vCenter 2.5u4 Performance Overview - Chart could not be loaded

Yesterdag I've installed/upgrade our test vCenter 2.5u3 => vCenter 2.5u4. After installation the Performance Overview tab is visible but there is no new report plugin visible to download.

In the Performance Overview is only the following message " Chart could not be loaded"

I'm also not able to find the report plugin in the VI-cliënt.

Any idea?

The update self went fine and for so on I haven't seen any problems. The Performance Overview is a new plugin which is not necessary by default.

I've done the upgrade as described in kb1008296

I see a strange thing. After installation of the Performance Overview the Report plug is already installed and enabled Smiley Happy But still no performance data Smiley Sad

I'm facing also a problem with the new Performance Overview Plugin. Directly on the VC Server it is working fine.

When i try to install the plugin on my client workstation, i receive following error:

My Client Workstation is running Windows Vista SP1 (current MS patch level)

Does anyone has an idea? whats wrong here? Is the plugin only supported on the server?

Best whishes from Germany.

I also found this a second ago. Smiley Happy

Does anyone know how to install the plugin into the VC Client?

If you are getting the "'STATs Report service internal error' and 'Message: STATs Report application initialization is not completed successfully', try KB 1008329.

Hi Peetz

The only issue that apply to my environment is that I don't se the plugin under the Available tab, but it's shown and enabled under the Installed tab. How do I verify the VC System's domain?

It's the same here, so I guess this is normal.

So what is NOT working for you, exactly? If you have the plugin enabled you should see an additional tab named "Performance Overview" when you select a host or a VM.

Do you see the tab? Does it display an error message?

Performance Overview Plug-In Might Not Be Displayed in the Installed Tab of the Plugin Manager Window After the Performance Overview plug-in is installed, it is displayed in the Available Tab but might not be displayed in the Installed tab. Workaround:Restart the VI Client. If the plug-in is still not displayed in the Installed tab, verify that the VirtualCenter Server system's domain is configured correctly.

so what is meant with "Virtual Center Server system's domain" ?

The Virtual Center Server is not part of a domain here, should it ?

I'm asking exactly the same question. If I run VI Client on the server on which VC is installed the plugin is listed in the "Installed" tab as "com.vmware.vim.stats.report" and I see charts in the Performance Overview tab. All good and a neat enhancement, thanks VMware developers Smiley Happy

But run the VI Client on a workstation, where I would normally run it, and I see the plugin listed in the "Available" tab but as simply "report" and when I click on the Download and install button I receive the "Invalid URI: The URI is empty." error. It's not clear to me from any of the documentation whether the plugin can only be installed and run in the VI Client on the VC server or whether my install hasn't completed successfully.

Any assistance welcomed. I don't think any of the KB articles mentioned above are relevant as the plugin is operating as expected on the VC server.

We had the same problem kennys0 and irazor.

Turned out to be a firewall issue. We had to open up port 8086 TCP on the vCenter/Virtural Center Server.

After we did that Performance Overview showed up for VI Clients under the Plug-In Manager/Installed and we got the Performance Overview Tab in the VI Client.

Good Luck.

Hi earpda,

nice one! this solved my problem. Smiley Happy Now i'm able to view the performance overview tab on my vista client workstation with active firewall on the vc server.

After i opened port 8086 on the VC Server i restarted my VC CLient on my workstation. Now the plugin is displayed under the installed tab and I only had to activate the plugin.

Best wishes from Germany.
