hot linux conversion

 

hi

 

 

i've started a hot linux conversion with vmware converter 4..

 

 

but to continue the conversion it asks me a converter.helper login:

 

 

ttylinux 7.0

 

 

Linux 2.6.20 on i 386  arch

 

 

converter.helper login

 

 

i have no dhcp..

 

 

which username i have to  provide?

Since you have no DHCP service to the target VM's network, you need to configure a static IP for the helperVM.  It is one of the options in the 3rd page of the wizard.You may choose to configure a DNS settings (servers & search suffixes) depending on whether you specified the source machine with a hostname or IP address.

 

 

Normally there is no need for you to login to the helperVM, everything is automated.  Only if somethig goes really wrong would we ask you to login to the helperVM, and that would require you following the instructions in this KB article:

I configured a static IP address for the Helper VM. DNS configuration is ok. Even I can log in to the converter.helper.

 

 

But when I log in to the converter.helper,  I have no idea what I can do.

 

 

The conversion process is stopping.

 

 

The attach file is a screen shot of my VM Client from VC.

What failure are you getting?  "stopping" isn't a very thorough problem description.  Have you obtained the helper logs (by selecting the conversion task and click "export logs")?  That screen shot has no information about Converter at all from what I can tell, I was expecting a screen shot of either Converter or the Helper VM's console.   Help me so I can help you. 

Finally, please create a new thread for your problem, the other issue was resolved so it's best not to confuse the issue with an unrelated problem.
