Method for automatically accepting defaults in ESXi install process. posted: Feb 5, 2009 10:56 AM

I am wondering if anyone has come up with a way to make the ESXi installer automatically accept the defaults.

I boot my installs via PXE but am somewhat annoyed that I have to hit enter a few times etc to move the installation along, it would be nice if there was a file i could edit somewhere that just told it to go on and do it already.

Any thoughts?

You might search around here for "Scripted Install" or something like that - I think there have been a few discussions centered around this topic. You might also check out http://www.vm-help.com and see if there's any information on Dave's site about it.

Yeah, i've seen all of those documents. Nothing really lets me get past the:

enter, f11, enter, f11 in the install.

there has to be a config file in one of the tgzs or something that will let you just bypass the menu altogether i would think.

You'll want to start looking here - install.tgz\install.tar\usr\lib\vmware\installer\
