After upgrading to Ubuntu 8.10, I've had multiple issues that I have been able to solve by searching these forums.

Here is a brief summary (XP Pro guest with VM Tools) :

  1. Guest pegs my CPU's at 100% (Intel Core2 Duo core). Solution - Set guest to run on 1 CPU.
  2. Slow guest performance. Solution - Move VM Image from NTFS File system to Fat23 or ext3 file system.
  3. Incorrect key mapping. Action - Add xkeymap.nokeycodeMap = true to the config file as per this link: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/177321.
  4. Changing the Config file causes Unity Mode to crash. Action/Solution - Remove the new line from config and add individual key maps as outlined in this thread: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/178566?tstart=15.

Now unity works and the key mapping while in console mode or full screen mode work fine, but the Key mapping in Unity mode does no work. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Hold the presses! Upon further review (and a system reboot) it looks like all issues have been solved. I'll work with it a little and if everything goes well, I'll mark this thread "solved".
