Re: VMware Fusion 2.0 - Blue Screen of Death Oct 29, 2008 6:27 AM
Well it happened again and after a bit of investigation this appears to be a VMware sound driver problem. It looks like es1371mp.sys is causing the crash. Has anyone else had issues with es1371mp.sys and if so, does it cause the Blue Screen of Death for you as it has for me?

I've experienced the BSOD three times today in the same VM. Attached are the screen shots and memory dump. Please let me know if there is anything else that I can provide which will assist you in diagnosing the problem.

After the last of multiple BSODs today in the same VM, I ran ChkDsk and during the check of empty space the es1371mp.sys BSOD occurred again. Attached are a screen shot and log files. Some help from VMware technical support would be greatly appreciated.

It's possible that the problem is with this VM and not Fusion 2.0 since I now continue to experience the BSOD with only this one VM. Attached are two more BSOD screen shots from today. If you're able to determine if the problem is Fusion 2.0 related or specific to the VM I sure would appreciate it. There were no memory dumps since both BSOD events occurred during boot up.

We've identified a storage allocation issue in the es1371 driver, and we continue to investigate. We do not own the es1371 driver, so we're providing details to the owner.

I've been following this thread also. I get about 2 BSOD a day. The latest just now. Normally I'm in Unity when it happens and I notice nothing is responding. By the time I exit unity my VM is rebooting.
The latest from about an hour ago: Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078) That's what I get when I report the error to microsoft....normally it's something about the video driver. JH |

We've reported es1371mp.sys problem. Note this appears to be an issue on real hardware too: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r21258626-XP-Pro-Windows-Has-Recovered-From-A-Serious-Error As stated before, es1371mp.sys is not a VMware driver. |
