Dave,

Thanks for your work on these documentation and scripts.

Can you post the new version you some up with in the Documents section as more of a reference item?

Thanks,

Pat

Dave,

First off, let me thank you very very very much for your script work. Tokamak was exactly the type of solution I needed, as I use multiple VMnets to do work in demonstrating via VMware firewall/VPN, IPS and SSL VPN solutions, including a fake Internet load balancing component. I created a script of my own called ip-redux.sh that re-ifconfigs my interfaces for now, since I too need to have an address other than .1 on the Mac, as that is used by my other VMs. I would like to know in what way we can support you in your further work on these, including PayPal donations, since VMware has not, and in Fusion 2 at least, will not provide the required functionality equivalent to VMware Workstation in Windows.

Secondly, I'd like to put forth my wish list - if I have time I'll try to rework the scripts myself and provide you with "patches" that work for me. Alas, I never have enough time to tinker in bash on my Mac. :-(

1. The ability to disable the DHCP server and/or NAT for any given interface.
2. The ability to configure a specific IP other than .1 for any given vmnet interface and have it stick.
3. The ability to create vmnets that don't even necessarily require an IP for the Mac itself (VMs talking to each other but not OS X).

Many many thanks again, and feel free to contact me or post here if you have any questions whatsoever.

That is excellent news, Dave. Count me in for running some tests on the scripts when you make them available. I have a few different Linux and XP VMs that I run for work which all use custom IPs. Should be a good sample test of the scripts.
Thanks for your efforts!

I'd love to be able to get these and test out on Fusion 2 and 10.5.5. I'm right in the first few weeks of the semester and need to have 2 active network connections for the Ubuntu stuff we're doing. Otherwise, it's dual-boot but I'd much rather use Fusion.

Thanks for all the work on this, Dave.

Giddy with excitement. Waiting for T2. Don't get out much.

Are you allowed to give out your website? I saw you mentioned it earlier in this discussion...if not, no big.

DaveP's profile page lists two possibilities for his homepage.

Um...yeah...guess I could have checked his profile. Der.

Dave,

No worries, sir. I'm very interested, but know how it goes. You have to pay bills first. Thanks in advance for what I'm assuming will be good stuff.
