ESXi on HP LH 3000 Install problem

Hi all,

I am trying to install ESXi 3.5 U2 on my old HP NetServer LH 3000.

The machine has a HP NetRAID Express 1si integrated RAID controller and that's more or less the problem with installing...

When the installer is started, the VMKernel is build. It tries to load the "megaraid2" driver and there it gets stuck! Installation is stranded here...

When I disable the raid function and turn it into a SCSI controller, the same thing happens, but now with the "aic7xxx" driver.

I searched on the forum and saw there were some probs with the I2O setting, enabled or disabled, nothing happened.

I also upgraded the firmware to 2.04 but nothing happened.

Has anyone any idea for solving this problem?

Thanks for any help!

Kind Regards,

Faellah

If there's an option in the BIOS to disabled ACPI, you might try that.  I had a couple of older SuperMicro whitebox systems that were giving me trouble - the system would complain about not being able to assign an interrupt for each of the devices - and disabling ACPI worked perfectly.

Hello Faellah,  what sort of CPUs do you have in the host?  Just curious as a few of us our seeing how slow (old ) the CPUs can be and the leader right now is 900 MHz Xeons.
