Do you find out whether you've passed VCP right away?

I am planning to take the VCP test soon. Just wondering whether you will find out if you have passed it right away after taking the exam (since this is multiple choice, you should be able to), or if you have to wait a few days before they notify you?

Along the same line, is this a paper and pencil exam or is this done on a computer?

If it is the latter, do you get to skip a hard question and then go back to it, as in the same way they do for the mock exam that's available at the VMware Education Center website?

You'll receive a print out on your way out of the testing center. It will indicate your score as well as a pass/fail indicator. As for format, it's computerized ~75 multiple choice questions. If you've ever sat for a Microsoft exam, you'll be real familiar with the format.

As stated above, the exam is computer-based, and yes, you can skip a question and get back to it later (make sure you do that before you end the exam). A good tip is to use the "mark for review" checkbox in the corner of the exam screen for questions you want to get back to later. After all the questions you will be presented with a "review" screen with the marked questions clearly visible.

Good luck on the exam!

You can skip questions and get back to them later (as long as you do that before ending the exam). A good tip is to use the "mark for review" checkbox in the corner of the exam screen. After the actual exam you will be presented with a "review" screen with the marked questions clearly indicated so you can easliy return to them.

Good luck on the exam!

Thank you! Took the VCP test this past Mon and passed, barely! Pewww...

Did use the "Mark for Review" check box. I strongly recommend people use this feature while taking the exam. It saves you a lot of time when you go back and re-evaluate the answers that you are not too sure without going through the ones that you are pretty confident about.

I think if I didn't go back and focus on the dozen or so answers and re-evaluate them (and actually changed a few answers), I might be in danger of not passing it--I passed with a 5% margin, that means if I missed 4 more questions, I won't be able to pass it.

Overall, I think the test is pretty hard, covers a lot of breadth, and a lot of minute details. I really hope that VCP test can focus more on concepts, e.g. how VMotion works, than, say, which of the 3 pre-defined roles are allowed to create alarms.

Good luck to all of you who are planning to take the test.
