You need to add the SCSI drivers via the floppy available here - press F6 when booting the XP installer to add the driver. Another way is to use IDE instead of SCSI disks in the VM but that will limit cross-product compatibility:

BTW. It's best to start a new thread in the "discussions" so more people will see you question and try to help. Only I get notification of your post as I wrote the original document.

Hello All,

I am getting some authentication error while logging through web interface after installing VMWARE SERVER 2.0 on RHEL 5.3.

"Unexpected response from vmware-authd: 501 Global command GLOBAL server to non-host agent targets not supported"

I am seeing in the document that there should be some config change for PAM issue in Administration section point number 10.

Please let me know what config chnage needs to be done.

Thanks
A.

Not had PAM problems myself so didn't put it in the document. Try this thread - http://communities.vmware.com/message/1135206#1135206

Thanks for suggestion.

After following the link, now error has changed.

Permission denied: Login (username/password) incorrect

I have tried different users but it is not allowing me to login remotely. Although SSH is working fine without any problem.

When I see the /var/log/vmware-mui/error_log

Fri Jul 31 13:12:01 2009 warn Invalid session key (1) .\n
Fri Jul 31 13:12:01 2009 vmware error VMware::Management::Util line 173: -4: Permission denied: Login (username/password) incorrect
Fri Jul 31 13:12:01 2009 vmware error VMware::Management::SxLogin line 177: -4: Permission denied: Login (username/password) incorrect

Thanks
