虚拟机如何同宿主机共享串口？？

大家好啊，

我在用虚拟机的时候，发现虚拟机使用串口的话会把端口一直独占着，这样导致我宿主机的另外一个程序无法使用该串口，
有没有办法能让虚拟机里的程序和宿主机的程序同时使用相同的端口的，请大家支个招，多谢了！！！

VmWare workstation не запускает винду

проблема началась внезапно(раньше вс работало прекрасно)
при попытке запустить винду появлется чёрный экранчик(а в версии 7,0 экранчик с логотипом) иииии...ничего не происходит -_- в списке висят прочессы, но они ничего не делают, при этом окно не закрывается ибо "якобы" машина используется. При создании новой винды ситуация не меняется, винда создаётся, я её запускаю чтобы начать установку дистрибудива, но всё тот же чёрный экран....а что самое страшное что я переустановил основную винду но ситуацию это не исправило....

VMware very slow!

I am running a softaware called SAP ECC 6.0 through the VMware Workstation and the softaware is installed in my computer, but it is very lousy.
Even the mouse arrow moves slowly into the VMs window. My notebook is good, I have an intel processor 2.53hz, 4gb RAM, HD (7200 rpm).
Does anybody know how i can speed this softaware up????

My OS is windows 7 (64), and i am running windows server 2003 in the VM.

Aqui estou mais uma vez

Estou entendendo o VMware Server 2 há alguns dias, procurando
aprender mais antes de partir para uma plataforma mais complexa.
Bem, acontece que junto com a instalação do VMware Server veio
também o aplicativo Manage Virtual Networks que até agora não
descobri pra que serve nem como funciona, até tentei olhar a ajuda
no ícone que vem junto com o programa, mas não leva a lugar nenhum.
Há material voltado pra isso? Como funciona a configuração da rede virtual?

Mam problem z infrastrukturą VDI.

Mam zainstalowany serwery:
Active Directory
Menager
Seciurity Server
vCenter

Mam również szablon maszyny wirtualnej Windows XP Pro

Na serwerze "menager" ustawione są pule desktopów i łącząc się klientem w sieci lan wszystko jest ok. Działa.
Mam jednak klienta, który chce się połączyć po WAN, i tu się pojawia problem. Klient łączy się do serwera jest możliwość wybrania puli ale później wyświetla po dłuższym zastanowieniu, że "network is busy"

Publiczny adres jest opublikowany na serwer seciurity i odblokowane są porty 443 i 80.

Co może być przyczyną błędu?

He encontrado varias ppts/pdf de los vmworlds, aunque le dedican poco a este log.
Mas que nada me interesa el numero, por ej.:

Ya que lo primero es la fecha del sistema, parte del sistema donde se genera el evento, el dichoso numero y de que tipo es info, warning, etc.
Y luego el mensaje.
Si alguno tiene una pista .... agradecido.

Changing ESX Network Interface IP address

I need to shift an existing cluster to another location. This would need to have the IP addresses of the network interfaces change at the new location. I have found documentation on steps to change the IP for Service Console interface. How do I go about chaning the IP for the other network interfaces? (eg. DMZ, Backup LAN)

in einer der letzten Usergroups hatten wir das Thema ja schon mal angesprochen und da gab es einige, die die gleuichen Probleme hatten wie wir:

Der Standby Modus wird problemlos erreicht, aber man kann ihn nicht wieder verlassen.

Jetzt meine Frage in dieRunde:

Hat es inwischen einer geschafft, einen IBM x3850 bzw. x3850 M2 wieder aus seinem Dornröschenschlaf zu erwecken?

Problemas consola remota Vmware server 2

Hola a todos , en la maquina tengo instalado Vmware Server (última versión) y una máquina virtual con xp .

El caso es que al actualizar a la última versión de Ubuntu en la maquina virtual el ratón ni el teclado responden bien, hacen
cosas raras.

Esto pasó al actualizar el ubuntu , probé lo siguiente sin resultados:

Actualizar / reinstalar la vmware tools.
Actualizar a la última versión de Vmware Server.
Actualizar el hardware de la máquina virtual, tenía la 4 y ahora es la 7.

Si se os ocurre algo , lo agradecería.

HP ProLiant ML115 G5 on VMware ESXi 4.0でHDDの書き込みが異常に遅い

初めまして。
VMware ESXi 4.0 をUSBメモリ（JetFlash 2GB)にdd for windows で書き込んで
ML115 G5に挿してUSB起動しています。
内蔵HDDは
250GB ノンホットプラグハードディスクドライブ(Serial ATA) 411276-B21
を4台乗せています。
メモリは4GB積んでいます。この状態で正常にESXi 4.0が動作しているのですが
ただ1点だけ、どうしても解決できない事があり、ご教示頂けたらと思い投稿致します。

■現象
HDDの書き込み速度が異常に遅い

ゲストOSをWindowsやLinux等インストールして、HDDの書き込み速度をはかると
7MB/s 程度しか出ません。読み込み速度に関しては130MB/s程度出るため高速です。

測定方法は、Windowsの場合はhdbench等のフリーソフト、Linuxは
読み込み # hdparm -t /dev/sda
書き込み # dd if=/dev/zero of=./test bs=1M count=1024

で測定しております。

ESXiのunsupportedシェルからssh接続を有効化して、sshで接続して直接
ddコマンドを実行しても遅いです。

HDDの構成ですが、4台のSATA HDDを単体で使っております。
オンボードRAIDはESXiが認識しませんでした。

USBメモリからの起動をやめて、SATA HDDからの起動でテストしても
同じく書き込みだけ低速でした。

ためしに物理OSをインストールして測定したところ、書き込み速度 70MB/s程度
出ました。

ネットで調べたりゲストOS(Linux)の出力するメッセージを読んでいると、どうも
書き込みキャッシュが無効になっている模様です。

この現象を解決する方法をずっと探っているのですが、どうしても解決しません。
どなたか何か方法をご存知ないでしょうか？

ML115 G5のBIOSは最新版です。

足りない情報などございましたら提示致しますので、
どうかご教示よろしくお願いいたします。

Já estou usando o ESXi em um servidor e agora gostaria de migrar o outro que estou usando o VMServer para linux só não descobri ainda a versão dele.
Ai fiquei com duas perguntas.

Eu consigo migrar facilmente as VMs? Por exemplo copio as VMs e importa no ESXi?
Nesse servidor eu tenho instalado uma unidade de fita DAT72 que eu uso para fazer backup, depois eu vou continuar usando normalmente? Eu consigo usar no próprio ESXI ou terei que instalar um linux / windows para usar a unidade?

How to detect from WinRegKeys when a user is running a VMachine versus Native Desktop

Hi guys,

I am sure it is trivial for you experts but since I am fairly new to VMware I am still ramping-up.

I need to know what would be the WinRegKeys to look for in order to know if a user is coming from a VMachine or a Native Desktop.

Actually my goal is to use an End-Point Profiler agent that would be able to query the specific WinRegKeys to not allow a user session if it is coming from a VMachine. Only a user coming from a Native Windows or Linux Destop could access to a specific portal.

Since my End-Point Profiler agent is able to query WinRegKeys, files, process, etc. I would like to know what are those WinRegKeys and the status to look for in order to know if it is a VMachine session or Native.

I saw there are some RegKeys under a VMware Workstation running Windows2003 server which have VMware RegKeys like this:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\VMware Tools Service

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware Tools

but I don't know which key to look for and the value it should be when it is running on a VMachine

Ideally, I would like to have those for any kind of Client VMachine like:

Good Day EveryBody,

I am quite new to VmWare. I am running VMWare Server Ver 1.0.6 build 91891 . what actually is happening is that after installing Windows Server 2008 R2 as a guest, the screen rendering is quite slow. i tried to install VmWare Tools. It installed all drivers except VGA driver. It fails to install VGA driver.

however, i have seen Windows Server 2008 R2 running as guest OS without any rendering issue in VmWarwe Server 2.0. Is is possible that i install VmWare Tools of VMware Server 2.0 onVMWare Server Ver 1.0.6 Build 91891.

Multipath FIXED o MRU

Hola a todos,

Tengo una duda acerca de la "Best Practice" de como configurar el multipath en los ESX.

Hasta ahora disponía de una cabina iSCSI con 4 paths activos, pero la única manera que me permitía configurarla era en modo Active/Pasive ahora y viendo que el rendimiento no me convencía demasiado, la he cambiado por un modelo FC que si es Active/Active. En teoría el ESXServer debería detectar el típo de cabina que es y seleccionarte de forma automatica el "management" de los paths. Pues bien, siendo Active/Active la configuración de los paths me la deja como MRU.

Que configuración del Multipath recomendais para mi caso? ahora mismo lo tengo en FIXED tal y como recomiendo la "DOC" para Arrays Active/Active

I am curious if anyone has any comments around designing or implementing a full 10G (ESX & SAN) or Hybrid (10G servers & multiple 1G SAN) on something other than Cisco Nexus. My experiences so far with 10G implementations on Nexus has been fantastic, but not everyone is a Cisco shop. When I saw the writting on the wall for the 10G tipping point in pricing in late 2008/ealry 2009 I didn't think Cisco would be as competative as it has been on pricing. I think that pricing has kept many people designing around it, because outside of some lower 48 projects I just haven't heard of anyone implementing much on anything else. I like to hear about other options considering how important the network is for a VM project.

外付けのネットワークHDDにVMWAREのデータ(vmxなど)を入れ、起動すると以下のようなエラーが発生します。

『プロセスはファイルにアクセスできません。別のプロセスが使用中ですエラー』

原因が何かおわかりになられる方はおられますでしょうか。

Имеется сервер HP ProLiant DL160G6 12GB RAM, 2x500GB RAID-1 HDD, с флешки грузится ESXi4. Стоит 2 гостевые машины с FreeBSD7.2. На гостевых машинах резвернуты VMWare Tools. На виртуалках работают нагруженные веб порталы с посещением до 70 тысяч пользователей.

Периодически (с периодом от суток до одной недели) разом одновременно обе виртуалки перестают пинговаться. Более того, я и из vSphere Client не могу попасть в локальную консоль. Клиент показывает что машины включены, потребляют ресурсы. Выключить виртуальные машины невозможно - процесс заминрает на 50%. Перегрузить хост тоже не получается из за тех же замерших виртуальных машин. Помогает только Hard Reset. После этого машины поднимаются, и работают до следующего повисона...

Хост настроен по умолчанию. Патчи накатаны до билда 193498.
Кто нибудь сталкивался?

He visto que en la utiidad "petool" que tiene el WindowsPE que carga el converter en frio, hay un parámetro petool --vnc . Os queria preguntar para qué sirve este parámetro y si como yo intuyo es para poder conectarse en remoto al converter cold clone y poder hacer la conversion si el servidor no tiene tarjeta de administracion remota.

ESXi auf Workstation

Hallo Zusammen,

ich weiß das es nicht supportet ist aber teste trozdem und bin auf folgendes Problem gestossen wo ich nicht dahinter komme.
Habe auf einer Workstation mit Gigabyte Mainbord und AMD Phenom 9950 QuadCore 4GB Ram
nen ESXi Installiert.

Soweit so gut und alles ist fein gelaufen.
2Stk. Intel e1000 Netzwerkarten. Also Konfiguriere ich das Managment Netzwerk um per vSphere Client daruf zu zu greifen.
Aber siehe da es geht nicht. Hier die Fehlermeldung

Keine Verbindung hergestellt

Der vSphere-Client konnte keine Verbindung mit dem vCenter Server '10.1.1.251' herstellen.
Details: Die Antwortzeit des Servers war zu lang. (Timeout für Vorgang überschritten)

Ein Ping auf die Adresse funktioniert einwandfrei.
Ich wollte auch per Inet Explorer drauf aber das geht auch nicht.
Komische Geschichte weiß da vielleicht jemand Rat?

Добрый день, уважаемые.

Есть задача -- создать некую сущность для vmware (изначально -- appliance), которая является демкой с уже предустановленным софтом и настройками. Сеть для нее не нужна. Просто загружаешься, тыкаешь ярлык на рабочем столе и запускаешь браузер. Всё.

На текущий момент это работает на загружаемой флешке (c ubuntu 9.10) с персистентым хранилищем. Файловая система находится в loopback файле casper-rw и использует aufs.

Общая цель -- создать копию этого добра с минимальными издержками.

Отсюда выходят следующие вопросы:
1) Как проще всего сделать это? -- общий вопрос.
Далее более конкретно:

2) Могу ли я просто сделать ISO-файл из необходимых мне файлов (содержимое флешки), создать виртуальную машину (где это ISO "будет" в сд приводе) и сделать снепшот? Поднимется ли система из снепшота в другом месте без всего? И в данном случае -- как завести loopback файл как жесткий диск?

3) Могу ли я создать appliance (VM) с помощью VMStudio, используя template ubuntu 8.04, а iso упомянутый выше? Сам дистрибутив базируется на ubuntu 9.10. И опять -- как завести loopback файл в VM и использовать его в качестве персистентного хранилища?

4) Можно как-то скопировать загруженную систему в VM Appliance? Кто-нибудь пробовал converter?

5) Или эти варианты обречены на провал ввиду loopback файла в качестве ФС и нужно ставить убунту и все настраивать заново?

Какие будут соображения, коллеги?

Creo que en vsphere se reconoce un disco sata, yo he pinchado uno en un servidor que tiene vsphere y no me lo reconoce, ¿hay que hacer algo para que lo reconozca? o simplemente es pinchar y listo.

Igual es que lo he pinchado mal o la bios no lo reconoce , voy a mirar a ver.

I recently attended both the Mini forum and the VMUG event. Found both the events to be very informative. Prior to these events, I've completed a single project involving ESXi 4.0 and vSphere. It was a small project, decent to start me off gently in the world of Virtualization. I am now looking to further expand my skill set.

With that said, are there any places in Montreal where I can get hands on experience in working with VMware and its more advanced features. I have the time (read unemployed at the moment) and I can put in a decent amount of time and effort. I am not expecting a job from this, just some valuable hands on experience.

Would like to find someone who is using VMwareLifecycle Manager. We are currently using a combination of VMware ESX 3.5 and Lab Manager 3. We are evaluating the VMware Lifecycle Manager for the workflow provisioning features, specifically. Anyone have any experience with this product in a production environment?

Problem mit user-Berechtigungen unter VMware 2.0.1 - Zugang VMware Konsole geht nicht

Hallo,

endlich komme ich dazu hier meine Frage loszuwerden. Die VMware Seite ist ja mehr als unübersichtlich geworden leider...... Hoffe das ist nur Übergangsweise so.

Mein Problem:

Server: CentOS 5.2 - 64-bit mit VMware 2.0.1
Darunter VMware-Server: 1. NT 4 als Domain-Server 2. Ubuntu-Datenbank-Server 3. Ubuntu
Samba läuft auf CentOS
Clients: Windows XP-Pro

Alles läuft wunderbar.

Jetzt müssen jedoch 2 user Zugang zu den 3 Server haben um sie z.B. neu starten, herunterfahren zu können bzw. bei einem Aufhänger auch neu starten zu können (reset). Und hier fängt das Problem an.

Die Konsole ist auf den Clients bereits installiert und funktioniert (Anmeldung als "root" klappt wunderbar).

In VMware ist eine neue Rolle eingetragen "user". "user" dürfen (bin nicht sicher ob das bisher so richtig ist, weil es eben mit dem Anmelden und damit mit dem Ausprobieren nicht klappt): -> Virtual Machine -> Interaction -> a) Power on b) Power off c) Reset

Das Anmelden per VMware-Konsole auf den Windows-XP-Clients als "root" klappt einwandfrei. Aber die beiden user können sich nicht anmelden. Die Frage ist jetzt: warum? Username und Passwort sind doch die gleichen wie aus der Windows-Domäne? Bei Samba klappt doch der Zugriff seit Jahren auch... Separte Usernamen/Passwörter kann und muss man doch nicht auch für VMware verwalten, oder doch?!

Was könnte ich bitte übersehen/vergessen haben?

Es muss m.E. etwas mit den Berechtigungen/Passwörtern/Konten zu tun haben, nur komme ich leider nicht darauf was...

Hoffe ich konnte mein Problem deutlich machen und hab alle wichtigen Angaben gemacht, sonst bitte nachfragen.

Bin für jeden Tipp/HInweis sehr dankbar. Vielen Dank im Voraus!

vSphere4 ESXi の認識するリソースについて

お世話になります。
現在、hp-ProLiant ML115 G1 (1.8GHz×2core、メモリ4.5GB) にて、
vSphere4 ESXi を運用中です。

VIclient から、システムの「サマリ」->「リソース」を見ると、CPUもメモリも
正常に認識できているのですが、
「リソース割り当て」タブに表示されるリソースは、以下のように減少しています。
■CPUの合計容量 = 2788MHz
■メモリの合計容量 = 2850MB

これは、ESXi 自身の使用するリソースを差し引いた値が表示されていると
考えてよいのでしょうか？
（他のトピックを見ると、ESXi自身のファイルシステムマップに
メモリが2GB使用されるという書き込みもあったので・・・）

Jeg har en server der kører med VMWare ESXi 4.0. På denne ser ver skal jeg have skiftet RAID-Controlleren og sætte to nye diske i.

Så jeg skal have flyttet installation fra gammel RAID setup til nyt RAID setup.

Jeg forestiller mig to muligheder.

1) Bruge Ghost og kopier hele VMWare installatione i en omgang og håbe på at driveren til den nye RAID-controller ligger i installation. Muligvis med at redde den med at kører installationen oven på den ghosted, for at lægge den nye driver på.

2 Bruge et program der kan tage en Off-Line Backup til en fil flytte de 5 Virtuale Server. Udskifte hardware installer ESXi 4.0 og derefter restore de 5 virtuale server.

Jeg har tidligere brugt en anden ESXi 4.0 til at kopier til og derefter kopier den tilbage. Det har bare givet problemer med at licensen til Windows 2003 server skulle gen aktiveres.

Det vil jeg helst slippe for hvis det er muligt.

God råd til hvordan dette skal gøres på den smarteste måde.

2 cosas importante sobre converter

hola a tod@s.

os informo de como he resuelto unos problemas que he tenido con converter, mi escenario es con la esx4 y vcenter.

resulta que cuando queria hacer p2v me daba un error de conexion rechazada, empezaba a hacer la migracion, al 1% creaba la maquina pero al 2% la borraba automaticamente, pues bien lo he resuleto de la manera mas sencilla que os podeis imaginar, resulta que las maquinas que queria converte a virtual tenian algun tipo de problemas en los discos, he pasado por la maquinas fisicas el comando chkdsk y se han djado virtualizar sin problemas, increible pero cierto.

mi segundo problema era que me salia un error que decia "vcenter converter agent interface is not compatible" o algo asi, resutla que estas maquinas habian sido convertidas ya con una version anterior, desinstale de las maquinas fisicas el agente viejo, proble de nuevo y perfecto.

espero que os ayuda y que las horas que he "perdido" sirvan jeje.

Problemas con el Cliente VDM View "cuadros negros"

Tengo el siguiente problema yo tengo mis usuarios accesando sus respectivas maquinas virtuales por medio de un servidor de VDM estoy usando las version VDM View tando el cliente, agente y el broker

los usuarios utilizan wyse como terminales para accesar sus respectivas maquinas y tengo problemas con estos modelos (X90l , X90e)

por ejemplo una vez que el usuario tiene la sesion activa le empiezan aparecer como cuadros negros en diferentes partes de la pantalla y esto solo me pasa con el cliente de VDM por ejemplo con remote desktop no me pasa eso, pero quiero utilizar el cliente de VDM para todos los usuarios pero no se como hacer para que no aparezcan esos cuadros negros

Windows 7(host)无法ping通VM的nat网关?

”やっちまった”状態に陥りまして、救済策がないものかお尋ねします。

環境：　ホストOS Win Vista
VMWare Player 2.5.1 ゲストOS FedoraCore10

やっちまった：
　　　　　FC10を11にyum upgradeして、依存関係にひっかかり、該当パッケージをyum deleteとしたら700以上のパッケージが依存関係にあり同時に削除された。
　　　　　再起動すると、もう起動しない。

　　　　　深夜に半分うつろな状態で操作したのが間違いでした。

救済したいこと：
　　　　　１．現状回復したい
　　　　　２．せめて、vmdkディスクを、新規のゲストOSで使えるようにしたい(マウント?)したい

方法、アドバイスなどどうぞお願い致します。

2 problems My Gateway machine will not allow 64 bit CentOS and I can not find proper IP address for trusted site

I downloaded the VMWARE distribution for i386_64, selected theRedhat linux 64 bit installation, downloaded the CentOS i386_64 isos and then found I could not use this distribution because I do not have the EMT processors. I reconfigured VMWare to use linux 4 32 bit and DOOownloaded the 4.8 i38d ISO from Cent OS. The linux installer does not recognize my disk drive and I have been unable to locate a disk.sys and partmgr.sys file for the Western Digital Drive I have whick is what windows reports as the drivers for a WDC WD64 00AAKS-22A7B SCSI Disk Device.

The second prob;em I have is that I am unable to determine the address of the VMWare Console to add to the trusted sites list and therefore have to turn off protected mode to open the console. I would prefer not to do this.

Help for a newbie please!!!

Llevo tiempo leyendo documentacion, foros, blogs sobre ESXTOP y como interpretar los datos...etc...etc... y cuanto mas leo...menos me aclaro

En el entorno q estoy manejando estamos ampliando las vCPU de varios servidores web de 2 a 4 y necesito saber y controlar si tengo CPU contention para poder pedir mas hosts.

Tenia entendido que un campo que indica claramente que tienes problemas de CPU en 1 ESX con varias VM con mucho uso de CPU es el %RDY time. una prueba que he realizado es la de correr una sola máquina con 4 vCPU (dddddd) en 1 ESX y realizar una simulacion de carga en la VM para ver el uso de los recursos del ESX. CUando he ido al ESXTOP del servidor he visto que dicha máquina SOLA corriendo en el ESX (2 Quad Core) tenia niveles "altos" de %RDY time (ver imagen)

Alguien tiene experiencia con el esxtop? podriais indicarme q valores son los que se tienen q mirar exactamente y q valores son los "threshold" a partir de los cuales preocuparse?

VMWare ESX: snapshot automatically getting reverted

Hi. I am runnging VMWare Esx3.5 and created 5-6 VMs on it.

From ESX, I am running one script which reverts current snapshot to previous one, then install our Product and run tests on it. But, the problem I am facing is, without running that script, the snapshot is getting reverted. in hostd.log file, I am seeing this logs:

im looking for a nice solution to backup our VM
environment. First: The solution should be at no cost. I know that
there are products like vranger and so on, but there is no budget for
something like that...

First: I tried VMWare Data Recovery. Is a nice tool but i have some "problems" with it:

I havent found any way to send mail notifications. I found that there
is a operations_log.utx file under /var/vmware/datarecovery in the
data recovery VM. Has anyone tried to export and edit this file and
send as a email-report or something like this? This would be nice, so i
don't have to look every day in the "Data Recovery" Tab if the backups
are successful...

Because of that the Data Recovery
Utility is just licensed in Advanced and higher versions of vSphere i'm
looking for a solution to backup standard esx-hosts.

So i started to script something with VCB.

My
goal is to get a script which can backup machines from any host
connected to Virtual Center. The script should be a batch script
because of that other administrators understand what i've scripted. At
this time my script creates per task a backup of all virtual disks
connected to the vm over lan to a backupshare.

What i want to have:

-
I want to have a backuphistory. I set the maximum backup time to hold
backups into a variable. Then every time a backuptask runs the
backupfolders will be renamed (backup1 will be backup2, backup2 will be
backup3 and so on) and the backupfolder with the name of the "hold
backups" value should be deleted. So i get a history... Anyone
experience with this?

Then i would write what my script is

doing into a logfile which should be send per email with blat.exe. Here
i need a opportunity to create logfiles with virtualmachinename and
date in the dataname and an opportunity to delete logifles after a
defined timeframe.

仮想マシンが三ヶ月前の状態に戻ってしまった

仮想マシンが三ヶ月前の状態に戻ってしまい、
なにか修復方法がございませんか？

◎環境
ホストOS WinServer2003
ゲストOS WinServer2003
VMware Server for Win 1.0.0

◎経過と状況
仮想マシンのハードディスクを拡張しようと思って、
vmware-vdiskmanagerを実行して、エラーとなり、
試行錯誤しているうちに、再度ゲストOSを起動してみたら、
なんと３ヶ月前の７月末の状態に戻ってしてしまいました。

原因は特定できませんが、考えられる理由は
①vmware-vdiskmanagerのコマンドによる
②仮想マシンのフォルダにあるファイルを不用意に実行した

①について、次のようなコマンドを実行した覚えがあります。
vmware-vdiskmanager.exe -x 30GB -t 0 "E:\Virtual Machines\WinSer2003.vmdk"
vmware-vdiskmanager.exe -x 30GB "E:\Virtual Machines\WinSer2003-001.vmdk"
vmware-vdiskmanager.exe -x 30GB "E:\Virtual Machines\WinSer2003-flat.vmdk"

②について、次のファイルをクリックした覚えがあります。
1.vmware.log
2.WinSer2003.vmdk
3.WinSer2003-001.vmdk
4.WinSer2003-flat.vmdk
5.WinSer2003.vmsd
6.WinSer2003.vmx

結果からみると、スナップショットが実行されてしまったように思えますが、
自分としては実行した覚えがありません。

また、vmdkファイルが余計にあることが気になります。
現状は次のような３ファイルがありますが、
特に*001.vmdkはなんのため、どうやってできたかは不明です。
前任者も記憶にないとのことです。
ファイルの日付は新しいため、
直近三ヶ月の更新分データはここにあることを願うばかりです。

Would like to review the software iSCSI initiator to iSCSI target LUN mapping. I have been testing with OpenFiler and OpenSolaris ZFS strorage arrays. "LUN Thrashing" is a IO killer and can easily happen if the targets are not statically mapped on the ESX hosts.

transferencia de archivos

Tengo un problema con VMWare.

Tengo un Mac, y un disco duro multimedia que solo va en windows.

Hasta ahora, arrastraba direcamente los archivos del mac, a la carpeta del disco duro en windows (con vmware) y primero salia una ventana pequña diciendo que se copiaba del mac al windows, y posteriormente, windows lo transferia al disco duro.

Pues bien, ayer, cuando estaba en tramites de pasar un archivo, cuando la barra de transferencia del mac al windows llego al maximo, se quedo así, sin hacer nada, y sin tener acceso al windows, puesto que la ventana de transferencia bloquea todas las operaciones que este haciendo la màquina virtual.

Me pase toda la noche haciendo pruebas, reinciando, bloqueando algun programa que pudiera dar interferencias, nose...

Pero no encuentro el problema.

Teneis alguna idea de que puede ser?

Guest OS: Windows XP +SP3

Vmware: Vmware Workstation 6.5.3 build-185404.

每次把虚拟机关机了，进程还留在系统里，占用内存，但是不占用CPU，需要用kill -9把他杀掉，谁能告诉我这是为什么？

I attended the 10/23 vmug. I was a bit disappointed that more time was not spent on vsphere installation. The presentation was rushed through so Cisco could have a 90 minute presentation.

While the cisco presentation had some value, There was too much time given to them and not enough devoted to the day to day issues. If I leave work for 2 hours, I would like to spend it one something

that would help me on a day to day basis.

This was the second meeting I've been to, and the same type of thing happened last time.

Добрый день Уважаемые админы.Есть вопрос следующего плана.
Так как я новичек в настройках продуктов от VmWare, пытаюсь поставить тестовую виртуалку на основе ESXi и ESX на самой VmWare Workstations 6.5.2-3? на своем ноутбуке.Прочитал некие статьи, которые дают обзор как поставить, но что то не поучается.А реального сервера под рукой нет.
Допустим пытаюсь поставить ESX 3 на варьку , добавил в конфиги всю необходимую инфу, вроде все проинсталил, а как начала сама грузиться типа initialize processor.... далее enabling interrups и все повисает!Так же и на ESXi -затыкается на VM kernell seccessefull и все. Что если у меня проц не поддерживает Intel-VT и его не установить в биосе, значит дело табак? Как тогда потренероваться на системе такого плана?
Помогите плиз разобраться с установкой!

Я правильно понимаю, что отлаживать драйвера в виртуальных машинах невозможно в принципе в виду архитектуры решений виртуализации?

И если написать заведомо корявый драйвер, то он не будет бсодить виртуальную машину.

Доброго времени суток!

Проблема в следующем:
Во время копирования больших файлов на виртуалке (больше 150мб, в т.ч. и при локальном копирование) , через некоторое время (если копирую файл ~4гб, то примерно на 30% копирования) загрузка процессора поднимается под 100%, ВМ жутко тормозит, время копирования файла увеличивается в 100-ни раз.
Причем в начале копирования, загрузка ЦПУ колеблиться в пределах 40-50%
Объем потребляемого ОЗУ не возрастает, как при простое, так и при копирование, 120 мб +- 10%
До этого была проблема, описанная на http://secondstanza.com/2008/08/26/vmware-slow-network-share-performance/ , и распространялась только на сеть.

На всякий случай проверял ОЗУ (по некой рекомендации)- в порядке.
Отключил в БИОСе хоста IVT (Аппаратная виртуализация от интела)

Win2k3(host-R2&guest-SP-2)
По железу:
Raid-5уровня
4 ГБ озу
CPUx2 -E5430

SQL Server & VMWare

Hi, im hoping that someone may be able to advise.

we currtly running a single SQL 2008 STD server under Vsphere4. one of the comments made my the engineers was the its possible to take a clone of the sql server and perform maintenace, with out effecting clicnt connections on the live server. once the updates are complete, the patched server can be switch to be production, and the old server taken off oine.

Is this correct, considering my SQLServer has all its DB data stored on a SAN?

Im not too familier with the V terms (HA, Fault Tollerent, Motion) etc, so would like to clarification/input into this.

i am new in Virtual Machines sphere, and need help in writing functional design of my project. Project is - to write a web-inrweface in internet system, where users could create/make configurations,modification their own virtual machines. application must use esx server and vmlogix lab manager.

i myself must decide what functions will it have. here are some i have thought of:

user must have username and password to login.

-user must be able to make changes with his/her account.
-one user can only create max. 10 virtual machines from all the templates, which application contains.

user can not download any other softwares or programs, or change any OS.

please, if there is anybody, who is spesialized in these sphere, help to list any other functions...

Проблема такая: гостевой Linux gentoo c ядром 2.6.30 не может загрузиться. Загрузка останавливается в самом начале, после отрабатывания загрузчика.

После серии тестов, видение ситуации такое: не грузятся гостевые линюксы с ядрами 2.6.29,30,31.

На хосте следующая конфигурация:

Что интересно, есть еще один хост и там все грузится с таким ядром на ура. Единственное отличие этих хостов друг от друга это процессор.

У другого компьютера на котором все успешно грузится процессор вот такой:

VM Converter : Comportement étrange

Bonjour à tous,

dans le cadre d'une migration, je dois faire du P2V. Mon serveur physique à migrer est un Linux RHEL5. J'ai dû installer le converter standalone (v4.0.1) sur ce même serveur.

J'essaye de faire ma conversion...en vain.

Je renseigne l'IP de mon serveur à backuper avec l'accès root, ça se passe bien. Je renseigne ensuite mon ESX de destination et soin datastore, ça fonctionne bien.

J'arrive ensuite à la customisation de ma VM (ajout d'espace disque, mémoire, etc.), la partie la moins claire pour moi est "Helper VM Network". De ce que j'ai compris, je dois y mettre l'adress IP de ma machine à sauvegarder (mon Linux), son masque réseau et la gateway à utiliser (gateway du réseau de l'ESX) pour la joindre si je ne suis pas dans le même réseau que l'ESX (ce qui est le cas). Faut-il préciser un DNS obligatoirement (je ne le fais pas) ? Ai-je bon ?

Puis vient le moment fatidique : lancement de la tâche.

La VM se créé bien sur mon ESX et boote, puis ce message "Waiting for the target virtual machine to boot up as the Converter helper server" et la j'attends le timeout de 20mn rien ne se passe, puis évidemment "FAILED". Dans mes logs j'ai : unable to detect guest state as "running"

J'ai cherché un peu partout, les quelques infos trouvées parlent d'un problème de communication liés au ports mais voilà les ports que j'ai recensé me concernant et qui sont bien ouverts :

machineA : serveur Linux à migrer + Standalone

machineB : ESX

machineA vers machineB : TCP 443, TCP 902, TCP 903

machineB vers machineA : TCP 22

Mes firewalls laissent tout passer, donc je ne comprends pas bien.

La partie "étrange" de mon sujet arrive maintenant. Quand je fais des tests via telnet, ça marche bien pour tous les ports, toutefois du côté de l'ESX concernant le port 903 je ne vois pas le flux arriver.

En gros, si je fais telnet machineB 903 (depuis machineA) j'ai bien le prompt qui apparaît alors que si je me place sur machineB et que je fais un tcpdump -n -i any port 903 je ne vois absolument rien passer

Pour être sûr de ne pas me tromper j'ai fait la même manip' avec le port 902, j'ai également le prompt et depuis la machineB je vois les flux passer... Qu'est-ce donc que ce port 903 que j'arrive à atteindre et qui n'est même pas en écoute (vérifié via netstat -npl) ?

Pour résumer, mon problème vient-il des flux, ou de ma config "Helper VM Network" ?

VMWARE клиент не ловит DHCP/BOOTTP

Здравствуйте, коллеги!

Помогите разобраться с проблемой.

Есть VMWARE Workstation 6.5.3

В локалке есть DHCP сервер на 2003.

Все клиенты в VMWARE преспокойно получают IP адреса с DHCP сервера (сеть в режиме бриджа).

А если попытаться загрузиться с сетевой карты (нажав при загрузке F12) - облом. Карточка не видит DHCP сервера

Это на работе.

Дома у меня DHCP раздает роутер и там подобных проблем нет. Версия VMWARE Workstation та же - 6.5.3

Физические клиенты в локалке на работе спокойно получают DHCP/BOOTP, грузят образы и т.п.

А вот в VMWARE не получается

Подскажите, куда копать?

Дополнение: попробовал с другой машины в офисе, с установленным ACE Edition - результат также отрицательный.

Похоже, дело в настройках DHCP сервера под 2003.
Но почему, физические машины ловят bootp а виртуальные нет?

Дополнение 2:

под VMWARE Server тоже нормально загрузился с boottp - получается, что в workstation только траблы?

Кто-то может какие-то мысли высказать по этому поводу?
