We submitted a vmware image to the VAM yesterday (http://www.vmware.com/appliances/directory/1280). When anyone running Safari on OS X clicks on the download link they get redirected to a blank page.

LANDesk System Management features not working on VM

The feature which do not seem to work correctly are:

Realtime Monitoring / status from LANDesk Server Manager Web Console
View Remote Event Logs from LANDesk Server Manager Web Console

Evnvironment:

2 LANDesk Core Servers LDMS/ LDSM 8.8 running on Windows 2003 Server hosted on a ESX Host.
The 2 Core server are on different ESX hosts. Each ESX Host has several VMs.
Remote agents /clients are physical systems whic are Windows 2000 Serversand Windows 2003 Servers.
These agents connect to the core server via a frame relay circuit.

The problem has been duplicated on VMWorkstation

Are there any known problems / compatability issues associated with VMwares virtual network technologies and the above features?

Any recomendations on tuning of ESX VM or Virtual Network to resolve these issues would be appreciated.

ESX Server with AutoPatch Modula Series

I wanted to know if anyone had any info on using VM's with an AutoPatch set-up. For those not familiar with AutoPatch, it is a matrix switch with 32 inputs and 32 outputs. If I am runningseveral VM's, how would I view them over AutoPatch...or is it possible at all? Example: 3 Plasmas, and 2 projectors= 5 VM's 32x32 Autopatch Modula

Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition with VMware Server 2.0 Beta

I have a machine with Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 Edition, and i installed the VMware Server 2.0 Beta 1.

But the service of Apache Server don´t stated. Exist any patche to problem, or if i install the apache server new release, the problem will be corrected?

I purchased a new Microsoft Windows XP Home w/Service Pack 2.

I downloaded the free 30-day trial of VMware Fusion, with the intention of upgrading to the full version if it works for me.

VMware Fusion installation was flawless.

Popped in the Windows disk. The install wizard started up. Within a couple of moments, I get a popup window that says my hard drive is not installed. There is no way to go to the previous install screen on Windows to see if I missed a step or answered a question wrong, so I'm stuck at this message screen.

Thought I'd try to install a 'new client'. Because I only have one seat on Windows, I get another message that I can't proceed because I'm trying to use a second seat. Ugh. Go back to the first client and go through all the menu buttons options looking for a way to start over. Nothing.

February 26 I wrote to VMware. I received an email that confirmed my support request was received, but no one called or responded. Two days ago, I tried calling for support, but got lost in the voice mail tree.

Can someone walk me through the Windows installation and tell me how to get beyond the 'no hard drive found' screen. I can turn on my computer and occasionally get work done, but my computer skillz are limited, so please dumb down your response, lol. I found someone had responded to a similar question, but the instructions were completely non-sensical to my brain.

Thank you for any help you can throw my way.

LUN discovery problem on ESX 3.0.2

Hi All,

I am having trouble getting a 1TB LUN that I have created on my SAN to show up on my ESX 3.0.2 server. Currently there are a total of seven data stores on the server, 2 FC SAN (300MB & 800 MB), 4 iSCSI (300MB x 4), and the local storage "storage 1". The presentation of the new LUN to the ESX server works flawlessly in Command View. When you select the ESX host in Command View the host shows to have the original two SAN LUNs preseted as well as the new one.

I presented the new LUN to my backup server and it shows up on that server immedialtly, but when I scan my Fiber Channel adapters on the ESX server the new LUN is never found.

Is there something you have to turn on to see more than seven data stores? Ideas ?

Hello, I have a problem with the license from ESX Server. The following steps I have try to run my system:

1. install VMWare LabManager (evaluate version) on my first Server with IIS

2. install the VMWare ESX Server (evaluate version)

3. now I try to install "VMware-labmanager-agent-esx-2.5.2-124.bin" with the comand "sh VMware-labmanager-agent-esx-2.5.2-124.bin"

I have installed wkstn6.0.2 for linux. When entering the 20 characters s/n provided, theres only space for 15 characters not 20.

Can anyone assist with this issue?

Managing MSA 1000 storage through ESX server 3.0.x

We have a setup like two HP DL 380 G5 servers with HP MSA 1000 storage.

We have installed vmware 3.0.2 in HP servers and all VM's are residing in Storage.

Is there any possibility to manage the HP MSA 1000 storage through ESX server?

I see the message that AD cannot start, but in safe mone for restore directory service - I cannot find out all the hardware

Registration Problem

When working in my native boot camp 1.2 using Windows my Wacom Pen tablet works fine, however when running Windows from the Vmware environment the tablet has functional limitations. I have tried various configurations and nothing works(I notice upon Windows opening,a tab pops up with the name Driver and a question mark next to it, then tab goes away) Also, another problem I have is I'm not able to get any sound in Windows under the same Vmware environment. Any help out there for these two issues?

VMware licensing and Support Account

Patches for ESX Servers 3.0.2

In order to keep our ESX servers up to date on the current patch levels what is the recommendation? Should one check the VM site from time to time for newly released patches or would one wait for a version upgrade? And would these version upgrades contain all patches needed or would one still need to check the patch site and then check that against your ESX servers?

I have paid for VMware Fusion and updates come often which is good. Its a royal pain to have to enter my info EVERY TIME there is a new update. I PAID and you already have my info. If the update is free, just let me have it without asking for my info EVERY TIME there is an update. Fusion requires a serial number to run. Just require first time beta users to sign up so they can get a serial number. Please don't require signing up EACH TIME there is an update. Its really annoying.

Lousy support: SR closed before issue resolved.

My brother bought a VMware license, and in the 30-day complimentary period we filed a SR (SR#238316). The problem was not resolved in the 30-day period, we hardly felt that the problem was understood and reproduced by VMware, and then suddenly the 30 days were gone. We didn't hear from VMware until now approximately a year later. Now VMware tells us that they have cleaned up their old SR, and therefore have closed the SR. We replied to the mail (webform@vmware.com) with the SR in subject, but got an auto-reply that the SR was closed.

That is what I call lousy support; Prolonge a support case until the support period is over, and then close the case without the customer having a chance make an objection.

Anybody got an idea of how to reopen such a SR?

We cannot even see the history of the SR, as it claims the SR period is over, and therefore does not have access to the SR system.

Do I need to purchase support for my second ESX server. I know that support is required with the initial purchase of VMI. But I am not looking to purchase another license for ESX. Am I required to purchase a support contract for that as well.

Hi,

I am a Gold Support customer and trying to use VMWARE's webpage to initiate a SR. There are several problems I run into:

1. After log in I am presented with my account profile and asked to update it. Sure, no problem. I change the email address and the phone number, save the changes, go back to my profile and check it. Everything is ok. Then I log out, log back in and see again my old profile. I tried it several times. It is simply not possible to change the profile information and save it for the next time.

2. I can, as described above, change my profile temporarily until the next log out. If I do so and open a SR, everything will be fine. But when I try to review the list of SRs, I will not find the newly opened SR. This only happens when I changed the profile in the beginning.

3. From time to time I am being presented with an already filled out foreign SR when I am trying to open a new one. Then just two pages pop up - one blank SR to be filled out by me and an already filled out SR by somebody else. Of course I can see all the personal information of that person.

TO VMWARE: THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG! PLEASE GET IT FIXED ASAP! I do not want other people to be able to see the SRs of my company nor do I want to see there SRs. I want to be able to change my profile information once and forever and not every time again when I log in. And I want to be able to review my SR list and see all my SRs, not only those who have been opened using an unaltered profile.

What happened to reporting an SR as an FYI?

Previously if you (like me) cant afford to pay for support, so you get the complimentary only, which after a month runs out, Id find a bug and submit it, but the ability to submit an SR without a support contract seems to have gone missing, meaning any bugs I find I wont be able to send in.. Is there any chance this option will make a come back?

Capacity Planner - Online Course - not accepting registration

Last week i noticed that VMware now have an online course for Capacity Planner. As a VCP and VI implementation project engineer this course and access to Cap planner would be extremely useful for me to use on my current and future clients sites.

I set up my education login, left it a few days and tried to register for the course. However, i am denied access to register for the course with an explanation that my profile and/or course settings do not grant me access.

Please tell me, is this course available to the public? Is this course available to VCPs (of which i am) or is it for VM employees and partners only? In which case why is it displayed on the website.

As an aside, is there something that needs to be done on my education profile to show my success on the VI3 exam? I see there is an area where this is displayed but there is nowhere on my profile for my VCP ID.
