Passed VI3 Today, quick question...

What if anything do i have to do to link my score to my Education account here that shows i've had the class...

AND

My paper work says that it can take 4-6 weeks to receive my certification, as i'm in a bit of a hurry to get 4.0 certified by the end of the year, will it matter if i take that test before i acually receive my 3.5 cert.

Thanks in advance.

Just passed VCP3, am I eligible for enrolling for VCP4?

Hi,
I just passed VCP310 couple of days ago and I guess it may take a month or so to get the Certification kit. when I enrolled for VCP4 upgrade voucher, it is mentioned that only those get who meet the prerequisites. As my VCP3 status is nor reflecting in Mylearn account, can I go schedule for vcp4 or do i have to wait until I receive Cert kit?
Passed VCP410 today....
Hi all,

Wow, I passed the VCP 410 today with 338. it´s not a spectacular pass but a pass is a pass...

I was surprised how hard it was.

My job involves going out to customer´s sites and installing/configuring ESX 3.5/4.0 so over the last 6 months I have done a lot of installations.

So I thought that I had a really good knowledge but the exam stretched me.

Some of the questions were very obscure, some I would have trouble finding the answer to even if I had a book in front of me.

However, a lot of questions were basically trying to test your deep understanding of how a particular function works so you need to know it well.

My study resources:

VCP ICM course manuals

PDFs from VMware.com (don´t kill yourself with the maximum configs but DO NOT ignore them)

Practise exams like the ones from Simon Long and VMware Mock exam

Reference sheets like the vreference.com

Hands on experience through many installations.

I have seen some posts which berate the exam and it is hard (don´t get me wrong) but if you know your stuff and not just from day-to-day use (you need to know what all options do) then you should be fine as the obscure questions are not so many.

I saw questions that said things like "you are trying to do xxxx AND you have yyyy configured but you see error. What could be the cause for this?" Now in standard installations and day-to-day use I doubt whether I would ever encounter this error but these are things you should be aware of.

I saw questions pretty much across the board i.e. from all topics

My advice: Read the PDFs more than once and try EVERYTHING out in a lab.

Thanks for the useful posts and good luck to all others who are taking this exam.

Cheers

how long to issue free retake voucher? itching to book exam
Hi there,

I am a vcp 3 and looking to book the vcp exam under the free retake program. Ive enrolled on the course but have not received anything. Ive been onto the chat support but they did not know anything. How long does it take to send the unique voucher out so i can book my exam.

If i fail the first exam do i still need to sit it again and pass before the end of December?

Thanks

VCP-410 Extend 31st December 2009 Deadline Suggestion

Got my VCP-310
Got my Second Chance voucher
Live in the sticks.
Have to catch an aeroplane to get to my nearest Pearson Vue
4 weeks until Christmas.
Anyone else got a similar sob story and feel like asking Vmware to extend the exam deadline for existing VCPs past 31st December?
I know it's a big ask
Here's hoping
Sample VCP4 Questions?
Hi,

I'm hoping to do the VCP4 in the next couple of weeks or so and as part of my study, I'd like to use some sample exams. Can anybody point me to any free sample exams on the web? I'm aware that there are various vendors who sell this stuff (and also that some of this paid material is made available for free via various mechanisms - which I would imagine is illega, therefore not interested ) . Anyway, I've used Simon Long's sample exam, which I found very useful - any other possible sources?

I plan to use this material as part of my prepartion, trying to get as much hands-on and blueprint related work done as I can also.

Thanks,
Passed VCP4

I just passed my VCP4 with a score of 331. Since I was a VCP3 I had the option of taking the test without needing to visit the class as long as I passed by Dec, which was quickly approaching. I wish I could give study tips but I found the scope of the exam blueprint very broad and found it hard to decide what to study. Instead I used Simon's mock test, http://www.simonlong.co.uk/blog/vcp-vsphere-4-practice-exam and relied on real world experience. It also didn't hurt that VMware gave us the second chance offer which gave me a bit of extra confidence going in to take the test. The test was a lot more difficult than I remember the VCP3 test and seemed to focus more on troubleshooting and configuration. Good luck to everyone who is studying for this exam.

NEEDED: VCP4 Study Materials

Currently, I am a VCP in VI3 and attain a voucher for the VCP4 Exam so I don't have to retake the class. When I studied for the VI3 Exam, I found the Exam Blueprint and articles stating which documents to study to pass the Exam (i.e. Install & Configure, SAN Configuration, Minimums & Maximums, etc...). This is exactly what I'm looking for now, which documents do I need to read and review to pass the VCP4 Exam??

Passed the VCP4 yesterday

Hi

Just thought I would drop by to say I passed the VCP4 exam yesterday with a score of 375. Things I did to prepare for the exam was read the full Mastering VMware vSphere 4 book. Excellent book. I also purchased a HP DV7-3020sa laptop which is capable of running vSphere on workstation 7. Runs most things well but could do with more memory. I then studied the maximums and read VMware documentation.

Experiance of the exam is better than VCP3 exam. Was much less questions on maximums and more on scenarios. Mainly to do with networking, fiber channel storage, lots on FT, HA and DRS.

Now has anyone recieved a welcome pack yet?

Thanks
VCP[4] - Passed

Took my VCP[4] Exam today, I've studied pretty much non stop for the past three months... I aced the exam with a 500 score.. Used all of the typical study material, blueprints, mock exams etc... and all of the various forums/blogs that other VMTN members maintain.... I will say that this is my very first exam that ive ever "aced" so it was a suprise... Lucky Educated guessing on my part on the few that i did not know...

There were 3 or 4 questions i really guessed at, so i would rate my score a mid 400.... as "actual knowledge though"..

I dont know why, but i expected the exam to be a tad tougher than it was..

VCenter Test Environment

Guys,

Need some help here.
Last month one of the guys in here recommended that I set up a test environment on W/Station 6.5 to prep for the VCP exam.

I've managed to set up a ESX host and can succesfully use the VI Client to connect directly to the host from the workstation host.

I have now been donated a physical server that i;ve installed VSenter Server on and fires up great.

But I cannot get the 2 talking.

They are on the same network, and can ping each other ip and hostname, except I can't add the host.

I'm assuming there's something that needs configuring through the networking but can't figure out what i'm missing.

Can anyone here help!!!

For those of you who have your "VCP" on your business card, which would you use? The more general "VCP" or do you specify "VCP4"?
Bad VCP4 Exam Experience (aka Riddle me this...?)
Just took the VCP4 exam and failed..! Even though I prepared digligently using the blueprint and course materials, and work with vSphere pretty much every day.

I felt like the exam had an unusually high number of trick, trivia, and irrelevant questions if the test is truly intended to test practical skills a VCP would need. Then, in my post-test due diligence, I've found that I was also asked questions that had no correct answer. For example (and this is intentionally NOT exact), I had questions like the following:

What is the maximum number of ESX servers supported by the Foundation edition of vSphere?

a) 2

b) 3

c) 5

d) 10

e) 20

This question really threw me at first, and then angered me later on. The problem here is that the editions of vSphere include Essentials, Essentials Plus, Standard, Advanced, Enterprise, and Enterprise Plus. All are licensed per socket except for Essentials and Essentials Plus, which support up to 3 (dual-socket) ESX serves. I knew this cold when I walked in the testing center door.

...But that also means there is no such thing as the Foundation edition of vSphere. Thus, THERE IS NO CORRECT ANSWER TO THE ABOVE QUESTION...!!

That's totally unfair. How do we get that (and similar questions) fixed? What kind of recourse do I have?

Next VCDX Defense Board loaction?

Hi!
Just got my VCDX design exam PASS this week.:) Looking forward to face Defense board. I am located in UK, so preferred location for that would be Europe...
I was reading VMTN blog for week 41 and Duncan says that next Defense Board will be in VMWare Partner Exchange in Vegas (8-11 of February 2010).
Is that confirmed, are there slots still available, when is the next Board in Europe? I probably do not mind going to Vegas, but can someone confirm exact dates/time etc.?
I know that Design Exam pass printout says 30 calendar days before contact from VMWare, but can someone from VMWare clarify these things?

BTW, if VCDX4 comes out before getting VCDX3 (say getting two exams done...) will it be obsolete or you will still be able to finish VCDX3?

3 things I am going to remember about VCDX process.

Almost everybody who has been involved in VCDX process can admit that the process goes very slowly. And always there is a pause/waiting/delay in the process. You wait for review, authorization, results, invitation to defense, email response etc. The worst thing is that nobody knows how long you have to wait. It seems to be quite random.

In my opinion the VCDX process is premature…

VMware is a great company with excellent solutions. But I feel they have not put enough resources and time on VCDX. This is not for criticizing VMware, but a call for improved and streamlined process.

If I one day get finished with my VCDX certification process, I am going to remember 3 things:

1.	Waiting
2.	Waiting
3.	Waiting
Last Monday, I passed the VCP310 exam, and I've got a couple questions regarding myLearn and the VCP410 exam.

1. How long does it usually take for the myLearn account to reflect that you have taken and passed an exam?
2. Can I register for the VCP410 and take it even though my myLearn account doesn't yet reflect that I am a VCP on VI3?

G'day all.

I have my VCP3 cert (yay!). Going for my VCP4 cert in the next couple of weeks. I beleive that as long as I do this before the end of 2009 I will be eligible to sit and attain my VCP4 without having to do the bridging course or a full vSphere course (DSA, etc...).

I do my VCP exams at Excom in Australia. Once I book this VCP4 exam do I need to do anything to let VMware/Prometric know that I'm am OK to sit this exam and that if I pass I will be a certified VCP4 fella?
Does is make sense for VCPs to have an elevated support status when calling the helpdesk? In other words a prompt for your VCP number when you call which skips the lower level troubleshooting and gets you an engineer faster?

Finally passed my VCP4! 2 full weeks solid study, buldging disc and numb thumb but I did it!!!!

Ok,

it's actually been a few weeks since I passed but after about 1 month of intense study failed the first time and then retook after 2 intense study weeks I can actually proudly state that I finally passed the VCP410 exam with a score of 463!!

The first time I failed because I didn't properly do the things which a lot of the trainers on this site have been saying over and over again.  Namely;

Installed a real working vSphere 4 environment at your home or office. You will absolutely need to have a proper VMware lab in order to get a real understanding of how things work. Most of the questions on the exam were "real life" and I have to admit that the exam is pretty close to what you might run into in real life. There are a few multiple choice questions that appear to be purposely misleading but I really think it's quite accurate. So if your really involved and actually get "dirty" with the real system, you'll fare much better.

follow the blueprint - know it.  All of it.  You will be tested on everything in that blueprint.  The best sites I've found and spent the most time on in studying and preparing were these;

1) Forbes Guthrie's awesome study guide for VCP4 - http://www.vreference.com/downloads/...4-notes1.0.pdf & http://www.vreference.com/downloads/...re4card1.0.pdf - Forbes, I don't know how you had the time to invest in that but I really cannot say enough about this guy for doing this!!!

2) Simon Long -The "SLOG". Absolute must have if you're really serious about preparing for this exam... http://www.simonlong.co.uk/blog/vcp-vsphere-upgrade-study-notes/ Again, thanks very much Simon for all your help.

3) The vSphere Online Library for ESX4 & vCenter 4. Absolute must have and at first it had a ton of confusing or just down-right, wrong information but it seems to be getting better / accurate for things like max's & min's. I think most of the questions are generated verbatim from the wording on this site. In fact, I've made a permanent link on my browser to this site - http://pubs.vmware.com/vsp40_i/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm#href=welcome/welcome.html

4) Get a ton of coffee and please please, go see your chiropractor every 3 or 4 days - studying this hard actually caused a buldging disc in my neck which left my left hand to go numb -owwwiee. It's getting better though so I guess it was worth it??? lol
Hi,

I attended a course on the 20th of October 2009 (a VMware course) and just curious when the vouchers will be sent so I can sit my exam?

I emailed the team over 2 weeks ago and was told it will be sent within 7 days but two weeks later still nothing??

I have emailed them again but no response. Anyone from VMware Education that could let us know when we could be receiving the vouchers?

I have attached the link to the promotion.

Hi everyone,

I am starting the VCP 4 course tomorrow until Friday, and I've been told that there is a small exam on the first day of the course, have you guys heard about this exam, or attended this exam? If yes can you please give some advices about what I should expect to be asked?

Also, I would like to know what will happen if I don't pass this small exam?

Many thanks...

I just sat my Enterprise Admin Exam today so fingers crossed I will pass it. I have to say I found the wording of some of the questions a little interesting / ambiguous.
I read all the FAQ and basically all it said, take the vSphere class, and the test to get certified.

Well, I already took the vcp-410 and pass it and currently taking the vSphere class, I won't finish the class until Dec 2009. I was just wondering if the order matter such as taking class first and wait still finish, then take the test or currently taking the class and at the same time take the test and pass it.

Nearly there?

Hi all,

I'm studying for VCP310 and hope to have it wrapped up in the next few weeks. So far I have:

Read my Install and Configure course manual and taken notes.

Read all the PDF's and annotated parts that were missing from the course manual and are in the blueprint.

I'm currently updating my notes to reflect the additional information from the PDF's and ticking off the blueprint as I go.

I've built a home lab consisting of 3 hosts and got VirtualCentre installed, I just need to spend some time going through scenarios.

So far, I'm finding around 80% of the blueprint has been covered by the course manual. Does this reflect what others have experienced? Reading the PDF's were a bit of a nightmare but it's hard to know what's in them and whether it's relevant unless you read the dam things! Oh well.

Thanks.

Information needed to book VCP4

Hi all

I am planning to do the VCP4 exam soon. I have done my fast track VI3.5 last year but haven't taken the VCP 3 exam at that time. Now I have finsihed what is new Vsphere course. Both the courses were done from authorised vmware centres.

My question here is what information I need to book for my VCP4 exam and how do I book it?. I have got the confirmation number from my vpshere course and couldn't remember any confirmation numbers from fast track VI 3.5 course apart from the registered email address. Do I need to speak to vmware or give this information Pearson Vue? Please let me know

Regards

Many of you that read the VCP and VCDX areas on this forum know that I work as a VMware Certified Instructor, but that I also have contacts in the Education and Certification teams at VMware, so I have an insight into the inner workings of the VCP, VCDX, and all the official VMware training courses.

For the last 6 months or so I've been posting on my blog, and am delighted at the interest in the content, and the growth of the number of visitors. Today I am launching my new web site - Think Virtually - I intend for this site to become a "one stop shop" for those that are interested in VMware certification and training. For the time being I will be updating my blog and my site in parallel.
Hi Guys

some questions are around VC310:

1. In blue print it is mentioned under tools "Product Documentaion" what exactly they mean?
2.under Objective 6.4 –Utilize Guided Consolidation capabilities there are no suggested reading, can you please advise what to read?
3.in some places it is mentioned to read white papers, where do I look for proper white paper?
4. I looked at SAN documentations, to what extent do I need to read these docs as they are relatively big?

I am giving this exam mid of december, wish me luck!
VCP 310 - VSphere certification track
Hi,

I'm ready to sit VCP-310 in a few days...

I'm wondering about this scenario will be possible

a. VCP-310 exam (before take the oficial course) next wo weeks

b. Vsphere Official course. Two months

c. VSphere exam. Before December 31

Result (this is the question)

Obtain VCP-310 after take the VSphere Official Course (b)

Get VSphere Certificated Status after sit the exam (c)

I know is too much, but it's possible or valid

Thanks a lot
Contacting VCDX@vmware and Certification@vmware not being answered.
Hi

I was wondering if there was anyone here that could prod the people over at the certification and the vcdx email addresses to see if they got my email, or if there is any answer to it? -- I sent it twice now, with the most recent one being sent on 5th of November @ 10:42am GMT.

I got the auto response from certification@vmware, saying it would be answered in a couple of business days, but it has been a little longer than that now.

I was wondering if there was anything that could be done about the Design Course, as I am stuck in limbo between the old vi3 design course and the new vSphere 4 Design course...and I have to take my design exam before the end of the year. - I just want to get on to one of these courses, so that I am confident that I can ask any questions and such of things that may be on my mind, or give me a refresh into parts of what the design exam is about (I know its not going to cover everything, but I want to get along to one of these!)

Thanks

design exam result
Hi there,

i took the design exam today, but i experienced some strange things.

First of all, some operation were missing on some drag and drop parts, afterwards some strange questions on how change hardware without downtime ... with some bug answers too ....

then i did not have extra time as i'm a french guy .... with all that english text and scenarios i had to read 5 or 6 times.

and the last but not the least, how can i have the results just at the end of the exam?? A VMware examinator was hidden in the computer to evaluate the second part "viso" design?

so my score was 290 and the passing score is 300. So without 2 or 3 bugged question i guess i could pass it, but how is the design part evaluated? automatically?

i think this exam is very weird compared to the enterprise level, although i think the design exam is easier than the enterprise level. That's why i'm wondering how could i failed as i pass the enterprise with one try:)

In conclusion, i hope the design part has been taken into account as i don't want to retake this exam!!!

thank you for reading

Hi All:
i have a friend who took the vi3 training class, but wanting to finding if it is in fact true that VMware is retiring VCP3 test at end of the year, i understand VCP3 will not be expired by the end of 2009 but can we still take VCP3 exam after the end of 2009 ?, where is this official statement from Vmware on this ... I cannot find it in vmware's certification web site
Passed VCP-410 today with 500. Not as difficult as VCP-310 was.
Just wanted to provide my two-cents on the VCP-410 exam. I have studied various materials over the last month (nightly) specifically to pass the VCP-410.

I used:

Scott Lowes (Mastering vSphere 4 book) - was mostly for general reference.

vReference.com - great for quick view and study of specific configuration commands and config maximums.

VMware Config Maximums Doc. - must have information for maximums "memorization" type questions--yuck!!

Train Signal vSphere videos - good for learning new concepts/functions not part of VI3.

VMware vSphere PDFs - really if you know this material inside and out the test is no problem.

Just remember that VCP-410 covers more than just ESX. Know well-known information about Update Manager, Data Recovery, View, and vCenter.

I also have been working with and using VMware ESX products and associated SANs for years and I work with ESX (including ESX/ESXi 4) in an Enterprise environment every single day (my primary job)--so that helps. That said, this test was much easier than the VCP-310 (from what I can remember). Good luck.

Interested in How Everyone's Study Techniques for VCP-410
I have been an avid lurker here for a long time but have just now decided to post. I am studying for the VCP-410, but am in a quandary on how to go about doing it. I have several labs here at work and one at home and have been installing ESX(i) since 3.5. I have followed Scott's (great site BTW) advice, used Forbes' vReference Cards, read Simon Long's notes and links daily. I even bought Scott Lowe's "Mastering vSphere 4 (GREAT BOOK). I am up to speed I think on that.

My question/problem is how do/did you all go about studying for this exam? It's not like any IT exam I have studied before. Did you go through all 8 Sections and "Master" each one before moving on to the next or did you just go down the list of the blueprint one by one? I have labbed a lot of things in no particular order but that seems chaotic and for me I like order when I study. But with so much to study and 17 pages of objectives, sometimes it seems like I will never get to the end.

Then my next gripe is I have a coworker who, to me at least, took the "easy way" and studied ONLY braindump material (I wont name them to give them that tag) and now my boss has given him an opportunity that I believe I could've done and also he passed the exam in less than a month using this material and I have yet to do it. Of course, they let him go to the class and I have not been given that opportunity, but irregardless. I wanted to know your thoughts on that as well

I apologize for being long-winded especially on my first post, but my intention is to LEARN the material not CRAM it in. Thanks for listening. I look forward to any help you all have.

Just sat the Enterprise Admin exam....

I sat my Enterprise Admin exam yesterday and found it a bit frustrating TBH. Obviously I might've passed so don't want to say too much, and I don't really know how much I can say about the exam itself.

Is there any defence against potential misconfig of the lab environment? I also found some of the lab questions very vague.

Like I say, if I pass then c'est la vie, but if I don't I'd like to get some feedback from the test creators (offline obviously).

VMware vSphere 4: Install, Configure, Manage Class
Hey folks,

I just took the vSphere 4 class and thought I'd give a shout out to the teach, Brian Lewis. Brian's a great teacher. He actually taught me Unix / Linux 11 years ago through the U of M Unix / C / C++ Certification course, and made the light bulb go on over my head when I had trouble learning KSH shell scripting. Back then he put on a Saturday class, on his own time, which about 5 of us attended. Small world, great teacher. I never expected to bump into him as a teacher of VMware (he was a SCO Ace when SCO was cool, and in pre-litigation pre-bankruptcy phase).

Similar to 11 years ago, he made the light bulb go on over my head for VMware (a hardened Unix - Linux veteran). Anyone who can speak kindly about both Windows and Unix - Linux is a treasure (an equal opportunity OS supporter is rare). If you (VMware management folks) let him leave you in the future (not saying it will happen), it's your loss, because he’s a keeper.

To anyone else wondering about taking this class, and is a total VMware noob like myself (my class was filled with seasoned Windows / VMware admins), I highly recommend it. Me myself, I'm certified on Solaris and Red Hat and have admin'ed HP-UX, Solaris, Red Hat, SuSE, AIX, Unixware, and Tru64. I was genuinely impressed with the depth and breadth of what VMware can do (it'll be interesting to see a match up between Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and VMware and whether RHEV can stack up to vSphere 4). Brian taught the class without any bias, showing me a great tip on how to edit the /etc/vmware/hostd/authorization.xml file to fix broken VMware root perms (gotta love the command line, and VMware is running a heavily modified RHEL kernel after all).

Trivia question for the masses: Why is VMware running a RHEL modified kernel? Take Brian's class to find out if you don't know the real answer.

Cheers,
However I have always wonderd, how many are there out there, I know it is a very high level exam and that it is hard to get, so I am assuming not a lot. However it's always good to feed back to my employers that what I am doing is worth it, and holds some weight in the grand scheme of things.
Where to learn about VMware products?
I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I can go to find more information on Vmware products, such as more in depth information on things like HA and Vmotion and just all of the infastructure products in general?

As well as things like certifications, what they cover, where to get them, what types there are etc?

Basically I'm wondering if there is a central location for all of this?

I took a virtualization class at a college earlier this year, and most of it was on virtualization. I am also a customer as well, and manage multiple ESX servers in a Virtual Infastructure, but I don't really have access to a lot of material to learn more about it all other than searching the web or the forums for issues that come up when they come up.

So can anyone tell me where can I find this type of information aside from going through forums and hoping I come across a thread with something good in it?

Thanks

How to associate VCP# to my profile?
Hello,

I join a compagny which is VIP partner. I passed the VCP VI3 exam when I was to another compagny. I got my certificate from Vmware, with the VCP# and welcome kit. But how do i attach my VCP certification (more exactly VCP#) to my new profile. There is a field, but it is not editeable.

How do I attach/join both together?

I can't figure out how to do this.

Thanks for your advice

VCP Study Environment?
In in the market for a new laptop which will be used primarily as a
vSphere learning environment on which to study for the VCP exam.
Ideally I'd like to setup several ESX servers, a VC, and a couple of
VM's.

When I was studying for the VMware VI3 VCP exam, I had a
similar setup on a Dell laptop running Windows XP and VMware
Workstation. However, my current Dell maxes out at 4GB's of RAM and
given vSphere's memory requirements I've decided to purchase something
with more memory.

One of the latops I have been looking at is a Macbook Pro 13in
with 8Gb's of RAM. Is this particular laptop sufficient for my
learning needs and am I able to configure a vSphere learning
environment inside of Fusion?

Can you do a vSphere Defence on the existing VI3 VCDX

Hi,

I'm told I'll be able to sit my first VI3 VCDX Administrator exam in a few weeks and although vSphere is out I'm happy to do the VI3 path now and do any upgrade next year rather than wait.

However, I want to use a project I've just finished which was a vSphere server consolidation project for my defence. Is this possible or does it need to be VI3 project?

Which actions are NOT possible when a VM is powered on?

Hi All,

I've been studing for my VCP for the last month or so and have been using the Mock Exam for VCP3. In the last couple of days, when clicking on the link, it has been giving me an error:

*Error*! Your request cannot be processed. Please check the information before re-submitting.

I sent a few emails out but no one has gotten back to me on whether or not its just me or if its broken. I've been using the Mock Exam just to answer practice questions to get me set to hopefully take it in November. Has anyone else had this problem when accessing the Mock Exam for VCP3? It appears the exam for VCP4 works fine.

Thanks for the help.

On Partner Central University page it talks about an "Enterprise" VCP. See below. It says you need two VCPs for this which I have. What exactly is this??
Will the VCP 4 Welcome Kit have a Workstation 7 license
Hello all,

I passed my VCP on 10/27. I am not expecting my welcome kit anytime soon. When it does come will it have a workstation 7 license like our VCP 3 had a 6 license?

Cheers
Virtual remote lab, any recommendations?

Hello;

I am planning to give a little hands on training for a few folks at my company and I am looking for a virtual lab rental offer. My company doesn't have a training facility or budget to get one, so a rental of a few ESX servers would do the trick. Would you have any recommendations?

VCDX design exam based on ESX 3.5 u?
When I sat for the Enterprise exam there was a screen that indicated the version and update the test was based on. Does anyone know the version adn update the design exam is based on? Not that this is a huge deal but there are slight diffrenced in the updates for 3.5.

I found :

VMware vSphere 4: Install, Configure and Manage (VW-VSICM)

VMware vSphere: What's New v.4 (VW-NEXTGW)
Just Passed VCP-410! Watch what you study...
Just passed with score of....you guessed it...300! Thought I was going to have to use my re-write. OMG is that exam tough! For those that were wondering, the course and studying is enough to pass..just barely.

Study hard..study long...watch out for old study material! I found lots of stuff out there that is no longer current (valid). The old vReference.com study card is way wrong. The new one is good. Be sure you get the correct one. Even some of VMware's documentation on their site has wrong info in it that contradicts the current stuff.

No re-write for me..;-).

VMware Design Course
Hi all

I was wondering if you could help me. I know the Design Course is slowly being replaced with the vSphere 4 version, however I am on the road to do the Design Exam, and I would like to attend this course. It tells me it is not a pre-req but I still want to go, just to keep me up to date and such.

I have looked online, and I can see the number of dates getting shorter and shorter, however everyone I have emailed about it have not got back to me (the companies running the courses, vcdx@vmware, etc etc). There is only one online course left, however I would like to try and get this course done with a trainer.

Is there anyone can point me in the right direction of any emails I can try, phone numbers etc?

Thanks

which course prepares you better?
In my current position, I am the big fish in a small pond. I am the IT Manager in a department of one. I need to grow. I have interviewed recently for opportunities at a place with a very large IT department. My resume and initial interview yielded a second interview, but I was not hired because I was weak in areas needed in a large enterprise. Virtualization, SAN, etc.

So, I seek to prove my mettle by gaining a vmware cert. I have "virtually" no experience with vmware. I need to take one of two courses, and take the certification test. There is the VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage course OR the VMware vSphere 4: Fast Track course.

So, which one would better prepare me for the test?? Would I be better off taking the 5 day class?

Thanks, -dog
