Errores en vpxa.log

Buenas tardes.

<strike>2009-11-17 13:07:38.850 'App' 27098032 warning</strike> Failed to bind heartbeat socket. Using any IP.

En la linea siguiente aparece:

<strike>2009-11-17 13:07:38.850 'App' 27098032 verbose</strike> heartbeating 192.168.200.213 1493346:47366:31405:62815

Alguna idea?

"Unable to contact the specified host(xxx), This might be because the
host is not available on the network, there's a configuration problem,
or the management services on the host are not responding"

Precio licencia VMWARE Sphere

Precio licencia VMWare vSphere Standard-----------------657,90€/CPU----------2.631,6€

Precio 1 año soporte obligatorio------------------------------225,63€/CPU------------902,52€

Precio licencia VCenter Server Standard-------------------4.125,90€----------------4.125,90€

Precio 1 año soporte obligatorio vCenter--------------------867€------------------------867€

Total: 8.527,02

Data recovery, impressioni
Ciao,

17/11/2009 20:17:18: Normal backup using Ubuntu
17/11/2009 20:43:47: Trouble reading files, error -3942 ( delete snapshot failed)
17/11/2009 20:43:48: 1 task errors
17/11/2009 20:43:48: Completed: 11 files, 18,6 GB
26 minuti non sono tanti per 18,6GB?
Ciao
I am running a softaware called SAP ECC 6.0 through the VMware Workstation and the softaware is installed in my computer, but it is very lousy.
Even the mouse arrow moves slowly into the VMs window. My notebook is good, I have an intel processor 2.53hz, 4gb RAM, HD (7200 rpm).
Does anybody know how i can speed this softaware up????

My OS is windows 7 (64), and i am running windows server 2003 in the VM.

We had 104 members signup for the October 2009 VMUG meeting. Only 37 attended according to the attendance sheet.

What can we do to increase attendance to the meetings?

Please provide suggestions on what we can do to make the experience better for our members....

Updated Location!! - Join us for a luncheon to discuss The Ten Pillars of the Virtualized Data Center

Hosted by: The James Group, LLC, VizionCore, and Pillar Data.

Virtualization can significantly reduce IT hardware costs and improve data center efficiencies. Pillar Data Systems® leads the way in delivering the storage, backup, and disaster recovery technologies core to virtualized infrastructures. Combining technologies like VMware and Pillar Axiom® provides the benefits of virtualization at both the sever and storage level, resulting in a compelling solution. Benefits of such a virtualized infrastructure allow:

1. Consolidation

6. Quick Recovery

2. Application Aware

7. Modular Scalability

3. Easy to Manage

8. Future Flexibility

4. Interoperability

9. Automate

5. High Availability

10. Eco-Friendly

The James Group along with Pillar Data and VizionCore would like to invite you to a "lunch & learn" to discuss the value of server and storage virtualization. The James Group would like to share with you the benefits of our partnership with Pillar Data and VizionCore and how we can work with them to help you build solutions that optimize business efficiency.
Leeds VMware user group, November 2009 Meeting - Performance

November Meeting

Wednesday, 18th November 2009 at 14:00

ESX Server and Virtual Machine Performance*

Host: Brendon Higgins
Speaker: Chris Kranz
Venue: The Wellington, 88 Wellington Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS1 4LT

You are invited by the Chairman of the West Yorkshire branch of the British Computer Society to attend the inaugural meeting of a Leeds VMWare user group. Anyone with an interest virtualisation is welcome and leading stakeholders will support this event by attending. However this is a user event and priority will be given to vmware administrators wishing to attend.

The venue is in Leeds town centre and only a short walk from the train station and local car parks. A big thank you to the Wellington for allowing us use of the room free of charge for this first event.

The primary goals of this event are:

• Discover techniques for troubleshooting VM performance issues
• Meet and exchange ideas with peers
• Develop the format and agenda for the next meeting
• Recruit volunteers to help with next meeting

If you wish to attend please reply to this thread so that I may track interest. The room will hold 70 but only half of that is practical for the round table events due to the noise of other people speaking on the next table.

Agenda:

2:00 PM

Welcome and introductions

2:30 PM

A formal presentation and Q&A session with Chris Kranz, on techniques he uses for troubleshooting VM performance issues in his role of "Senior Technical Consultant" for vmware virtual partner b2net

3:30 PM

Round table discussions on various topics related to VMWare
• Backup and Recovery
• Performance
• Reporting and Monitoring
• VCP Exam
• vSphere
• Getting from development to production
• 'Open mike'

5 PM

Finish - Is that a pub down stairs? May stay for just a quick pint…

Thank you for supporting this endeavour.

New OKC Area User/Implementation Here
Hello all,

New member here, just checking in.

I have a brand new implementation of vSphere 4.0 Enterprise Plus + View Premier 4.0 for our medical practice coming up the weekend of December 4th.

We will be moving our 25+ servers to a VM ESX 4.0 environment located on the following hardware:

1 Dell EqualLogic PS6500X 48 port 28.8TB, 10K SAS SAN

3 Dell PowerEdge R710 servers

1 Dell PowerEdge 1950

1 Dell MD1000 5TB SAN

VMWare products (but not virtualization at the desktop level) is all new to me.

Anyone have some tips/tricks on the conversion of physical servers to virtual (including SQL servers, web servers, etc.) and the whole process?

During this transition on that weekend, I am also doing the following:

1. Changing our local domain name (from *.com to *.local - the original IT incorrectly went against best practices for domain naming at a local level).

2. Re-IP'ing onto a more simplified single subnet (currently has multiple subnets for no reason - we are fairly small).

3. Upgrading all current Windows Server 2003 x86 servers to Windows Server 2008 R2 x64

I am going to move our end users onto the VMWare View server as a second phase later on in the month or first of the year possibly.

Any tips, tricks, comments, or suggestions are warmly welcomed!

Thanks,

Backup solutions for vm and vmdk backups
I am curious about the various backup solutions that others are using to backup their VMs. I have evaluated vRanger (now called something different I think), looked briefly at ESXpress and Veeam backup. Have also heard many good things about Avamar as a way to backup VMs. What are some of the solutions that you are using and why did you select that solution. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

What backup solutions/products are people using?

Hello.

My company has been trying out VMWare, and the main question that we are asking ourselves is how best to implement a backup solution.

I would appreciate any feedback on what backup strategies are being used out there.

We have a dozen or so OS instances in ESXi 3.5 running on an IBM 3550.

VDI error

Witam

Mam problem z infrastrukturą VDI.

Mam zainstalowany serwery:
Active Directory
Menager
Seciurity Server
vCenter

The features supported by the processor(s) in this machine are

different from the features supported by the processor(s) in the

machine on which the checkpoint was saved. Please try to resume

the snapshot on a machine where the processors have the same

features.

Програмные ISCSI SAN. Starwind ;)

VMware ESXi 4.0.0 build - 171294
The system has found a problem on your machine and cannot continue.
The BIOS reports that NUMA node 0 has no memory. This problem is either caused by a bad BIOS or a very unbalanced distribution of memory modules.

Hot Spare.
(500670-B21) HP PC3-10600 ECC Unbuffered CAS 9 Dual Rank x8 DRAM

Linux Mint

VmWare Server 1.0.6 Build 91891
Good Day EveryBody,

I am quite new to VmWare. I am running VMWare Server Ver 1.0.6 build 91891 . what actually is happening is that after installing Windows Server 2008 R2 as a guest, the screen rendering is quite slow. i tried to install VmWare Tools. It installed all drivers except VGA driver. It fails to install VGA driver.

however, i have seen Windows Server 2008 R2 running as guest OS without any rendering issue in VmWarwe Server 2.0. Is is possible that i install VmWare Tools of VMware Server 2.0 onVMWare Server Ver 1.0.6 Build 91891.

regards

New Lansing VMUG

After several years of kicking the idea around and now several months of trying, we now have an official VMware user group in Lansing. The community site is located at http://communities.vmware.com/community/vmug/us-central/lansing.

I want to introduce myself. My name is Chris Cullingford and I have volunteered to be the leader of the Lansing VMUG. I am a Technical Architect for the State of Michigan’s Department of Information Technology responsible for the design and deployment of server virtualization technology for the state.

Our first meeting will be after the first of the year. I am looking to have meetings quarterly. I am trying to secure a facility for our first meeting so we can lock in dates and speakers. If you have a facility available in the Lansing area that could accommodate 60-70 people and would be willing to help please contact me via the community.

Be on the lookout for the meeting notice coming soon. To ensure you receive it go to http://info.vmware.com/content/subscription and update your profile to include VMUG event announcements.

I look forward to meeting you at the upcoming meetings.

Until later,
Pessoal,

Eu consigo migrar facilmente as VMs?

Using USB harddrive in ESXi?
Hi all,

A nice shiny new server with 1TB SATA drives (RAID 5, so
not 1TB useable capacity). I have 2x1TB USB drives which were
purchased with the intent of using them for backups.

After a
rather unfortunate Windows-update related incident which put our server
out of commision for about a week whilst I troubleshot it, we have now
gone for VMWare ESXi.

Not wanting to waste the USB drives, I am looking into using them for backing up the virtual machines themselves.

Going
into the "unsupported" console via SSH and monitoring
"/var/log/messages", I can see the USB drive being detected when plugged
in. Indeed, issuing a "fdisk -l" from the SSH console shows it up
nicely. Even the virtual-file /proc/scsi/usb-storage-0/1 gives the
correct details!

So, clearly the underlying Linux system knows about the device.

How do I add it as a storage device using the Infrastructure Client?

Going
to the Configuration tab and chosing "Storage Adapters" lists the USB
Storage Controller (vmhba32), but has 0 targets. Obviously, with 0
targets it isn't going to be accessible for the other parts of the
Infrastructure Client (such as the "Add Storage..." button).

Any ideas how to make these lovely devices available for use?

I am quite happy using the Linux CLI (but I was quite shocked at just how cut down the VMWare CLI is!) if needed.

Someone suggested reading through this KB article but it's aimed at ESX rather than ESXi - with the inclusion of the "i" you lose the rather more flexible Service Console VM. I
had a poke around and there seems to be virtually no trace of a
standard Linux modules/drivers system. Indeed, it bears more resemblance to an
embedded or LiveCD environment. I have found the modules ("drivers"),
but no way to control which ones get loaded at boot-tim (which is what the KB article suggests doing from within the Service Console VM). If I
could get the USB device to be recognised nicely, I could pass it to
the Virtual Debian server and then share it via NFS... but I'm not
really sure of the consequences of backing-up a running VM onto a
device that is being shared by that very VM.

Cheers.

How do I get VM files off of an ESXi box?

Where are the VM files stored on the ESXi? How do I get to them so I can put those vm's possibly on another machine
or back them up if my ESXi box goes down?
Hostd.log en profundidad

Buenas tardes gente.

<strike>2009-11-11 07:15:42.693 'TaskManager' 33565616 info</strike> Task Created : haTask-2576-vim.vm.Snapshot.remove-526551

distro

kernel

tools version

RH3 U2

2.4.21.15.ELsmp

169697

RH3 U2

2.4.21.15.ELsmp

169697

RH3 U2

2.4.21.15.ELsmp

158874

RH3 U2

2.4.21.15.ELsmp

No instaladas

RH5

2.6.18-164.6.1.el5

158874

RH5

2.6.18-164.6.1.el5

158874

INTEL Nehalem Vs. AMD Opteron
Hi All,

A bit of a religious debate this one, but I wondered what everyone's thoughts on this one were? What is everyone out there using? Does anyone have their hands on the Gainestown (Nehalem) CPUs yet and using them in Test/Dev environments yet? We are currently an AMD shop, but looks like we may be switching if the gains are as much as everyone says they are..........

File redefined for non-file usr/share/hwdata/pci.ids

Настройка firewall'а на vMA

Столкнулся с проблемой при установке APC PowerChute Network Shutdown for Vmware на VMware vSphere Management Assistant (vMA).

--vi-admin@vma1 ~--$ sudo iptables -L
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
RH-Firewall-1-INPUT all -- anywhere anywhere

Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
RH-Firewall-1-INPUT all -- anywhere anywhere

Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination

Chain RH-Firewall-1-INPUT (2 references)
target prot opt source destination
ACCEPT all -- anywhere anywhere
ACCEPT icmp -- anywhere anywhere icmp any
ACCEPT esp -- anywhere anywhere
ACCEPT ah -- anywhere anywhere
ACCEPT all -- anywhere anywhere state RELATED,ESTABLISHED
ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere state NEW tcp dpt:ssh
ACCEPT udp -- anywhere anywhere state NEW udp dpt:snmp
ACCEPT udp -- anywhere anywhere state NEW udp dpt:snmptrap
REJECT all -- anywhere anywhere reject-with icmp-host-prohibited
--vi-admin@vma1 ~--$

vcpu-0| http://msg.log.monpanic *** VMware Server internal monitor error ***

monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = "true"
monitor_control.vt32 = "TRUE"

VMware Network Adapter VMnet8　接続

VMware Network Adapter VMnet1　

From 192.168.0.1 icmp_seq=3 Destination Host Unreachable

http://homepage3.nifty.com/nasunu-i/VMware/NetBridge.htm

Backup e restore

Obrigado,

Login data recovery
Ciao a tutti,

Ciao e grazie

Uso de memoria Maquina Virtual Windows Server 2003 R2 STD

Hola estimado grupo,

Jetzt meine Frage in dieRunde:

Distributed Switch

VMware ESXi 4.0 をUSBメモリ（JetFlash 2GB)にdd for windows で書き込んで
(Serial ATA) 411276-B21

書き込み # dd if=/dev/zero of=./test bs=1M count=1024

Hello,
I am currently looking at alternative arrangments for backup solutions. Backup window not big enough for write to tape, needing to store tapes, swap tapes, no rack space.

Anyone using Online backup solutions?

Care to discuss the costs, pros and cons.

OS Win Vista

ATLVMUG Q4 Feedback

On behalf of the vendors, your VMUG co-chairs (Mariano Maluf and William Souder) and your VMUG chairman (myself), I wanted to thank everyone who registered and attended our Q4 meeting last week at the Georgia World Congress Center. We had over 1,000 of you register for the event and almost 600 attend.

This was our first large event and I would like to gather any comments that you have here so that we can make improvements for future events. Thanks in advance for your assistance!

best regards.......Bruce McMillan
Salve a tutti,

Grazie

Thanks to everyone who came out to the meeting. I hope everyone enjoyed the topic. I thought Brian from EMC did a great job explaining about SRM. If anyone has any questions they've though of from that meeting post them here and I'll get them answered as soon as possible.
