You mau have missed it in the Release notes: there is experimental support for 10.5 "Leopard"

Experimental support for Mac OS X Leopard -- You can now install and run VMware Fusion on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). Support is experimental because Mac OS X 10.5 is not yet released. Fusion will support the release version of OS X 10.5 in the final VMware Fusion release.

I'm going to go with yes, as the release notes also say
The Release notes mention problems entering a Serial Number when installing on OS X 10.5, does this mean that Beta 2 is supported on Leopard?

Pat's not alone - there are a number of VMware people who don't have insignias (/me whistles innocently). It's simply a matter of not having asked for one.

Downloaded quickly. Though not noted in the release notes, it apparently isn't necessary to uninstall the first beta; this one updates the old one.

The initial boot is rather slow; tool icon flashing reminds one to upgrade the tools, which proceeded without a hitch. However, the required reboot following tool installation hung just before the interface loaded. However, all was well following a reset.

Now, to shake it down.

Thanks, team, way to go!

Hi Pat,

Thanks for the notice. Very much looking forward to testig the product. Like a few other I was also watching the forum and waiting for the second beta release before jumping in to check it out.

Just wondering how come you don't have the little VMware insignia next to your name on your post just like other VM staff have on this forum. Not doubting that you are official - just suggesting that it might be helpful if you add it next to your name for the benefit of new people to the forum.
VMware "Fusion" Beta 2 is now available...

I am happy to annouce that VMware "Fusion" beta 2 is now available from: http://www.vmware.com/mac

See below for a list of what's new in Beta 2.

--------

What's new in Beta 2

Experimental 3D graphics: The rumors are true! You can now play select DirectX 8.1 games in a Windows XP virtual machine. See the release notes for details.

Rollback: Take a snapshot of your virtual machine configured just the way you like it, so you can quickly roll back to that ideal state whenever you need to, with a single click.

Run Microsoft Vista on your Mac: Want to run Vista on your Mac? Run Vista Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate 32-bit or 64-bit editions side-by-side with Mac OS X.

Improved networking support: Full support for AirPort networking with seamless switching between wired and AirPort/Wi-Fi connections.

Improved ability to add virtual hardware: Add virtual hard drives for more storage capacity, add up to ten virtual network interfaces to support private and public networks, and keep an eye on your laptop's battery level from inside your virtual machines.

Major Bugs Fixed in Beta 2

This Beta 2 release of VMware Fusion for Mac includes the following improvements and bug fixes:

Improved keyboard and mouse support — Third-party graphics tablets, keyboards, and mice no longer interfere with keyboard and mouse input. Support for plugging and unplugging input devices while virtual machines are running

Improved CD/DVD support - Better support for mounting and unmounting discs in virtual machines

Quicken Scheduler corrupts keyboard and mouse input in virtual machines — Offer workaround to disable Quicken Scheduler when it is detected.

-----

Download beta 2 and we look forward to your comments.

Thanks,
