Not to confuse the issue here and I don't know how you use SIM but have a look at Veeam Monitor. Free with some limitations.

Yep, three times I checked it. I am specifying root credentials. I ran the Identify command in SIM and failed. I think there is something else going on, as I mentioned in the original post, is I cannot connect to the HP management portal on this server at ports http:2301 or https:2381. I have two full blown ESX servers that I can connect to that way with no problem.

I think HP released a CIM query tool. Check on sourceforge. I seem to recall using it to test the cim agents on ESXi.

In the unsupported console check to see if cimslp is running.
ps |grep cimslp

What do you have in log files?

If you added the root user and password in SIM and performed a discovery it should pick up the ESXi host. I don't recall any special configuration. I would check in the HP forums for SIM information.
For the life of me I cannot get an HP DL380 G5 server running ESXi 3.5 U4 to be recognized in HPSIM. Nor can I browse to http:
<server>:2301 or https:
<server>:2381.

About one year ago I put ESXi 3.5 U2 on this box and must have configured it somehow because my HPSIM monitor saw it and the VM's that were running on it. I'm using HP SIM 5.2 SP2. I cannot find my notes or remember what I must have done to get it working..

Can someone help me out here? It is as if the management agents are not starting. I have downloaded and burned (4 different times) the ESXi version that specificaly has the HP management agents included.

Thanks
