I'd like to add my two cents here too. I have a VPN client that is totally dependant on access to the tray icon. Thats how you tell it to connect, disconnect, enable and disable options and so on. Right now, I have to exit Unity to do that. I am at a loss to why they just skipped the task bar, but it's going to be needed before Unity can be considered fully cooked.

Even with my setup, the Icons do not appear to be merged. at least they aren't done naturally. the notification bubble comes up on the primary monitor, which doesn't actually have the tray on it either.

Right now, I don't think it will merge them. I will still try an application that forces to tray (Live Messenger). when I did that, closing the man box put it out of sight.

This looks more like a feature request than a problem. I'll see if it can be submitted as such.

Thanks. I would've thought the same. The start menu button is there and works fine. But I don’t see any systray items.

I don't know if everything is suppose to work with Windows 7 as a guest. I "thought" that the 2 system trays would be merged. I'm going to try and double check this on my own system.

However, it may be a result of using Windows 7 than anything else. (ps, I don't have a Windows 7 guest right now ... just some xp/2003/redhat)

I am running Vista 64 bit with Windows 7 guest. Using an application on the guest which has an add-on that sits in the sytem tray of the vm until I click it to add data. Is there a way to access running systray apps if using unity view?
