Hi

Do you see anything in the log /var/log/vmkernel when deleting the snapshot

// Lars Liljeroth

Hi

It sounds like the snapshot is including the memory. This will make the VM do a quiescing. This i a Freeze and flush of memory.
Sometimes you see this as the server freeces.
Or it could be that you have enabled VSS in the backup product.

EDIT::Sorry i misread you post.

// Lars Liljeroth
system freeze when removing snapshots on san
we are using esx 3.5 u3 with two esx hosts dl380 g5 and two iscsi sans MSA2012.

We use doubletake for vmware to duplicate our virtual servers to the other san, both hosts are having almost the same load.

Doubletake uses snapshots to copy these virtual servers with counters on either data or time.

When the process removing snapshots is taking place on those vm's the vm's are totaly frozen for about one minute till couples of minutes depending on the size of the snapshots.

Is there a way to get rid of this.... other then duplicating on san level.
