You are correct. That is the vDisk UID.

I just discovered that the folder /vmfs/devices/disks seems to contain the answer.
In the LUN name it look as if what the SVC calls the vdisk_UID (output from svcinfo lshostvdiskmap )

The next questions:
1) is my assumption correct ?
2) how is the LUN name in the /vmfs/devices/disks folder composed ?

Is there a procedure to report on the link between vdisk-ids on a SVC 2145 and the LUNs we see on ESX ?
There was a procedure for ESX 2.x, see Re: ESX and SAN, retrieving serial numbers, but that doesn't seem to work anymore in ESX 3.5.
