You are correct. That is the vDisk UID. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;p /&gt;

      <description>I just discovered that the folder &lt;b&gt;/vmfs/devices/disks&lt;/b&gt; seems to contain the answer.&lt;br /&gt;
In the LUN name it look as if what the SVC calls the &lt;b&gt;vdisk_UID&lt;/b&gt; (output from &lt;b&gt;svcinfo lshostvdiskmap&lt;/b&gt; )&lt;br /&gt;

2) how is the LUN name in the /vmfs/devices/disks folder composed ?</description>

      <description>Is there a procedure to report on the link between vdisk-ids on a SVC 2145 and the LUNs we see on ESX ?&lt;br /&gt;
There was a procedure for ESX 2.x, see  &lt;a href="http://communities.vmware.com/message/239347#239347" class="jive-link-message"&gt;Re: ESX and SAN, retrieving serial numbers&lt;/a&gt;, but that doesn't seem to work anymore in ESX 3.5.</description>
