I also have the same exact issue (Issue 2). Guest OS is Debian 5.0. Host OS is Windows Vista 32-bit. I am running VMWare Server 2.0. It really is annoying.

Issue 2:

Scrolling upward doesn't work. Scrolling downward works correctly as 1 line is scrolled for every click. When I scroll upwards, the input registers 20+ lines Downward. When it should be only 1 line upward.

I have this exact same issue, and it is very annoying.

I am running a windows xp 32bit guest OS on a windows xp 64bit box with vmware server 2.0

Did you ever find a solution to this problem?

After running vmware-config-tools.pl and completing the compilation/vmware-toolbox setup, I find the mouse cursor and the mouse position do not match. For example if I attempt to drag anywhere on the gnome desktop a rectangle selection outline is created. On a working system, the mouse cursor and the corners of the rectangle match.

But after running the .pl script, the box is created 1-2 inches away from the mouse cursor. It will move around to different parts of the screan as the mouse moves. I've narrowed it down to the vmware mouse driver used in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. If I go back to my original xorg.conf, this issue is fixed.

Fedora 9 bug. See their release notes for the workaround.

This seems to be a continuing problem with VMWare Server 2.0, VMWare Tools 116503, and Fedora Core 9 64-bit. Does anyone know of a solution other than the work around of using Driver "mouse" vice Driver "vmmouse"?

I'm seeing the same issues for VMWare Server 2.0. If it makes a difference, the host OS is Win2K and the guest OS is Fedora Core 9. My mouse is a pretty much standard optical mouse (made by a company I've never heard of called "Inland") but I connect that to an IOGEAR "MiniView USB II" KVM switch. The KVM switch emulates a USB mouse so that is what Windows/VMWare will see.

I fixed issue 1 by changing from the "vmmouse" driver to the regular "mouse" driver. In other words, change this line:

Driver "vmmouse"

to this line:

Driver "mouse"

That does not fix issue 2, though. I am not sure what advantages you get by using the "vmmouse" driver, but it seems proper Z axis control might be one of them. I would suggest playing around with the "ZAxisMapping" option and maybe the "Buttons" option. I played with those a little bit and got nowhere, but I don't really need that functionality too much so I'm not too worried about that.

I have a mx510 mouse on one windows xp box and a logitech mx300 on the other.
Both are amd systems 4200+.
Both problems did not occur with vmware server 1.06.
