We are going to replace the existing physical machine running VC Server. We would like to confirm what files we have to copy across to the new machine.

From my understanding, we only need to copy

1) License File

2) SQL Server Database

Then we can start installing VC Server on the new machine with the CD or EXE downloaded. Is there any suggestion ?

Thanks
From memory, if we attempt to connect ESX Hosts from the second VC Server, it will report that it (ESX Host) is managed by another VC Server.
If you give the new server a different name and IP address that is all you will need to do.

Cheers

If we give a different name for the new VC Server, is there any extra step we have to perform ?

Thanks

since you will be keeping IP, anme etc the same you will have to shut down the original to avoooid conflicts -
Would it be desirable for me to shutdown the existing VC Server when I set up the new server ?

We will keep the machine name, IP address for the new machine.

Thanks

That is correct - I would go with the exe and also make sure when you point it to the existing datastore do not tell the installer to remove the existing data from the datastore -
