Fedora 9 is not a supported guest OS so problems are expected. Have you tried searching the forums? Since you asked, try this thread: Re: How do I install VMWare Tools on Fedora 9?

VMWare Tools on Fedora 9 not installing
I've been trying to install VMWare Tools from the "Virtual Machine"..."Install VMWare Tools" option. The cd/dvd mounts onto the desktop, but when I try to run the *.rpm package, it fails. The error dialog box says: "Local install failed." and under the 'more details' item, it says: can't install /media/VMware.

Does anyone know of a work-around for this? Is there a more updated version of the tools available for Fedora 9?

Thanks...
