The VMware Certified Professional on vSphere™ 4 beta exam will be available June 29th, 2009. Candidates eligible for the beta exam will automatically be contacted by VMware. These candidates must be VCP3 certified and beta product users.

Hello Andre,

do you have any information if or when a "Secure, Deploy & Analyze" Course for vSphere comes up? I´m planning to begin a VCP Certification and now i´m not sure if i should take the vcp-310 or if i should take the vcp-410. My hands on experience is based mainly on VI3.5 but last week we upgraded to vSphere.

I do not work for a traing center or for VMware
At this time there is only the "VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage" (and the "upgrade" course VMware vSphere 4: What’s New).

But I suggest you to contact a Traning Center and ask when the "Secure, Deploy & Analyze" is ready (probably at september).

In what order should I read the vSphera 4 PDF documentation?

It depends by your knowledge.

Or I suggest to use the Blueprint as a track, and study the relative part on the guide.

Q: How can I become a VMware Certified Professional?

A: There are a number of paths to VCP on VI3 certification. 1.) If you are currently a VCP on 2, you must take the new VCP on VI3 certification exam. Your VCP on 2 certification will not expire but we encourage VCPs to stay up to date. 2.) All other candidates need to take either the VMware authorized VI3: Install and Configure course, or if eligible the VI3: Deploy, Secure and Analyze course. We also offer the Fast Track class, a high intensity 5-day class that covers material from both the Install and Configure course and the DSA course. This class also meets the requirements for certification and a voucher for the exam is included in the class price.

Q: Will this change for VMware Infrastructure 3.5 and VirtualCenter 2.5?

A: Current holders of the VCP for VMware Infrastructure 3 will not be required to refresh their certification for VMware ESX Server 3.5 and VMware VirtualCenter 2.5. Candidates who have taken one of the qualifying courses for the VCP on VI3 (see above) and have not taken the test are encouraged to do so as soon as possible. Beginning March 1^st^ 2008, questions on VMware ESX Server 3.5 and VMware VirtualCenter 2.5 may appear on the exam. Candidates who have taken a qualifying VCP on VI3 course and DO NOT take the test prior to March 1^st^, 2008 will have the following options to learn about the new software versions:

What's New classes will not be required for those attempting the exam, but are recommended as an information source. An updated exam blueprint will be posted on the VMware Technical Certification website early in 2008. Q: Do I really need to attend the class to qualify for certification? Can't I just self study?

A: The class is a requirement for certification. We do not make any exceptions to this requirement.

Q: How do I register for the VCP certification exam?

A: The VMware Certified Professional exam is administered by Pearson VUE, a third party authorized testing center. Pearson VUE has over 3500 authorized testing centers worldwide. To register, visit www.pearsonvue.com/vmware and select the VCP on VI3 certification exam. The exam code is VCP-310.

Q: How many questions are on the exam?

A: There are 75 questions on the exam.

Q: What is the allotted time for the exam?

A: Exam takers have 90 minutes to take the exam. Individuals in countries where English is not the national language will automatically receive an additional 30 minutes to complete the exam. Please confirm this at the time of registration.
