Virtualization on the Edge

I haven't posted to my blog account here for a little over six months. At the beginning of that time I took a job at VMware working in the performance engineering organization. I test applications running with vSphere for performance. The results of these tests are used for two things. I pull the results together in the form of a whitepaper, blog post, or presentation and get the it out to our customers, partners, and teams for the purpose of informing around specific topics. The other purpose is to do detailed analysis of test results to assist developers in improving performance in current and future products.

I just so happened to start working on some ESX 4.0 based product tests, which meant I had to wait until the product was out to be able to publish the results. Additionally, I had my own learning curve in terms of the process for getting things through the pipeline. Things are comming out now and I hope to keep up a steady stream. The official outlet for my work will be whitepapers, presentations (like at VMworld and other conferences), and the VROOM! blog. I'm planning to use this Virtualization Edge blog as an outlet for more personalized comments on those efforts and as a way to touch on other less performance related stuff.

I also use my twitter account - virtualTodd - to interact on a regular basis with the larger virtualization community. So if twitter is something that you speak, we can connect that way as well.
