Install esxi 3.5 in vmware workstation 6.5 beta build 99530

Create a new virtual machine choose custom advanced.

Choose operatingsystem Other Linux 64bit

Then choose the lsilogic scsi kontroller.

Then choose the appropriet memory and disk settings.

remove the virtual machine from favorite list.

Edit the vmx file and add line: monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = "true"

Start the virtual machine and boot from the .iso file.

Install esxi.

Use Vmware workstation 6.5 beta build 91182 or later.

Create a new virtual machine as other 64 bit. Detach it from favorites.

Edit the .vmx and add the following entries.

ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000"
monitor.virtual_exec = "hardware"
monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = "true"
