Hi all, greetings from BRzl.
I just downloaded & burnt a CD with the latest ESXi and tryed to install it on HP Compaq dc7600 SFF (it's not at d HLC, but it's just a test). After loading for some moments, the following appeared:
"Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
Model: HP Compaq dc7600 Small Form Factor
Service Tag: BRB60302Q2
Bios Rev.: 786D1 v01.03"
Is there a way to install it? Should I give up?
Any help will be appreciated!
The DC 7600 has been testing with ESX 3.5 regular and was Ok so you should be Ok with ESXi (http://www.vm-help.com/Whitebox_HCL.php). If you open the CD on another PC, do you see a bunch of tgz files and other files?
Yeah, I'll put all the file names that I see in the CD:
BINMOD.TGZ
BOOT.CAT
CIM.TGZ
IENVIRON.TGZ
INSTALL.TGZ
ISOLINUX.BIN
ISOLINUX.CFG
LICENSE.TGZ
MBOOT.C32
MENU.C32
OEM.TGZ
VMKERNEL.GZ
These are the files, total size of them: 237 MB
I'm using optical drive HP DVDRW (Sata) and the HD is Western DigitalWD800BD - 80 GB (Sata).
I'd run a disk check app on the drive or perhaps swap out the drive and try another one.
It looks like either the disk is bad or an unsupported type.
Some HP/Compaq boxes support both IDE/SATA drives. Are you sure you have a SATA drive in it?
If you do, it looks like it is bad.

I tried two times using IDE and Sata disks. The same error was shown.
I heard about installing it on a flash drive, and using HD to hold the VMs. Is this possible?
It's not supported but works fine - http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/Boot%203i%20from%20USB%20flash%20drive.html.
yeah, the flash drive works!
Now, I must install the client into another machine to manage this server, right? Then, I tried putting the IP Address in the browser, and downloading the Client.
When running, an error appeared. "Could not read the file!".
I tried it in many other machines, but no way.
Is there another place to download it?
Thank you for you replies and patience. I didn't work for me this case, but now, I have ESXi running smooth in IBM BladeCenter HS22 blades.
